I owned a restaurant and was having the worst day ever. He arrived for dinner and a drink as he was also having the worst day ever. We got chatting and hit it off immediately.
We became really good friends and within 3 months we were dating.
He took my kids and I out to Nagle dam for a picnic. He proposed with my ring on a biscuit with cheese.
Our day was full of blessings from the beginning. We had the most beautiful weather and we were surrounded by 50 of the most special people in our lives.
We had a country western wedding which suited our personalities perfectly. Our guests showed up in checked shirts; denim jeans & skirts; cowboy boots & cowboy hats.
Our wedding was so special to us both as we made all our decor, wedding favors, invitations etc. It was amazing to see it all come together.
We were so honored to have my husbands God child and his sister play the wedding march for us. James played the violin and Shannon played the ukulele. It was a moment we will treasure for the rest of our lives.
Marrying my best friend who makes me laugh daily, was the greatest moment by far. He looked so dashing as a cowboy and I'll hold on to that feeling of seeing him, through the good and the bad times.
We decided to go on honeymoon at a later stage. Our friends and families travelled so far to be here for our special day, so we decided to spend time with them as we have a lifetime of honeymooning ahead of us.
I am very much a plain Jane and wanted my natural beauty to shine through.
I had minimal makeup with my hair slightly curled and pinned to the side.
A jeweler friend make me some baroque pearl earrings and my husband and I picked out a simple diamante bracelet.
I designed my wedding ring myself and chose a morganite as the main stone. The reason for this was that it resembled my new surname "Morgan-Smith". It was a lot more personal than a big, fancy diamond.
I purchased a Kelsey Rose Designer Dress months before my wedding day. For some reason it just did not feel like "the one". Three weeks before my wedding, I was browsing online and saw another dress. I fell in love immediately and just had to have it. Since it was a bridal stores demo model, I picked it up for a ridiculous R500. But it was definitely the one.
I wore a pair of Smokey Mountain cowboy boots with tassels. It was the best decision and I didn't have sore feet for a minute.
We got married at a venue in Drummond, KZN called The Butler Ranch. It fitted our theme perfectly and was truly a beautiful venue. The venue was in the process of building a bridal suite and ensured it was finished just in time for our big day.
Our out of town guests all stayed with friends and family.
I am very fortunate to have good skin and teeth. I was however desperate for a tan. My bridesmaids and I made a day of it and went for a spray tan at Bella Day Spa in Hillcrest, KZN.
My husband and I made most of our decor. We made flower boxes, table numbers, seating plan, menu and order of service boards. We made a guestbook which was a guitar in a frame. What better way to remember our day than seeing it on the wall each day.
We hired Designer Decor in Kloof, KZN to drape the staircase in the chapel and the poles in the reception venue. They provided my platinum tablecloths, lace runners and wine/champagne glasses.
The venue did my flowers for me.

The groom, groomsman and page boy all wore dark blue denim jeans, white shirts, waistcoats and brown boots.
I had the waistcoats made for the boys.
The groom and page boy wore bolo ties and the groomsmen wore ties that we had made too.
The boys also had their cowboy hats.
I had the bridesmaids dresses made. I wanted a style that would be flattering for both girls.
They also wore cowboy boots and the jeweler made them baroque pearl necklaces.
Their dresses were mocca and were made by Warren Morck.
Our marriage office was our resident minister, Roger Scholtz.
I have been lucky enough to work with David Weeks and Jonathan Rundell for many years.
Not only are they brilliant at what they do, but I am so lucky to be able to call them friends.
I planned my entire day with the help of my very good friend Kristin Fenton.
On the day of my wedding she was a God send. She thought of everything and ensured we had everything we needed.
We will never be able to thank her enough.
We were so boring. We just jumped into our Fortuner and cruised through to the venue.
My best friend provided my harvest table as a wedding gift. It was truly superb and everyone is still talking about it.
Highway function hire did our main course which was a lamb on the spit, roasted chicken and a variety of other sides.
We decided to go with Chateaux Gateau desserts.
Moyra Topham from Designer Cakes made my cake. It was everything I knew it would be. She is extremely talented.
I designed and printed all my own stationery.
Bizlink in Hillcrest printed my vinyl stickers.
Hubby and I went for dance lessons with Mark Wilson. He was so much fun to work with and encouraged us to surprise our guests with a little line dancing routine.
DJ Ant Fox did my sound and lighting. Nothing better than an old school DJ. He and his fiancé Alicia make the most amazing team.
