Our wedding day was exactly what we had envisioned at Engedi, Oasis in the Cradle, and only came together because of all the help we received from our family members. Ofcourse there were hicups but that didn't have an impact on us, enjoying the day which was months of planning. One of the biggest highlights was having our family & friends, who we truly wanted there, celebrate the day with us. Another memorable moment was when we entered our reception with a bollywood dance with the hit song Desi girl! With lots of dance practice with the lovely ladies & guy from Surya Dance SA, we were able to surprise all our guests...yes this was not expected...a total surprise even to my parents. From speaking to many guests, this entrance lifted the spirits of many and really gave the reception a good ambience.
We wanted to go to a honeymoon destination not common to honeymoons, but also somewhere budget friendly, and a place where both of us have never been to. Our honeymoon destination was...Vietnam. We received a wonderful surprise of a honeymoon cake, card & gift, courtesy of Singapore Airlines on our Singapore leg of the journey.
I always wanted a classic, simple & elegant look for my wedding. I love natural tones or highlighting ones natural beauty. However, this needed to be achieved on a small budget. This was awesomely achieved by Tamlyn (Makeup) and Lynne (Hair) . I wanted my hair up as it was quite a warm day and I had a low back which I wanted to show off. The look was actually changed on the morning of the wedding and these ladies were able to get me done on time! My wedding dress was custom made by Lizette from Bridal Alchemy and she truly captured the elegance I was going for. The dress was 9 months in the making & every lace detail was perfect. I didn't want a princess gown nor did I want a boring skirt, hence the horse hair layered skirt was born and it flowed like a dream. Shoes were courtesy of ForeverNew, very comfortable & had the simple rose gold color I was looking for. Because I wanted a simple look , i opted not to have any jewelry or accessories. Sorbet always did an excellent job with my nails, so it was no surprise that I chose them to do my wedding nail look
We decided to get married at Engedi because of their beautiful gardens and stunning chapel. We had our entire family stay over the night of the wedding at the wedding venue itself.
EnGedi is designed to host Celebration for anyone who has reason to celebrate - from weddings to birthdays to annual events to calendar events.
I followed my every day beauty regime, with additional Sorbet moisturizing face masks every two weeks
All our inspiration for the reception decor was found on Pinterest. We wanted decor that was romantic, intimate, simple & classic. All the decor elements were hired from Belle Doux (Pretoria) because they had all the rose gold decor we were looking for which matched perfectly with the blush pink linens which were from SA Event Rentals. The alphabet light letters were from Pro Decor.
All the flowers were purchased from Jasons flowers at Multiflora and were arranged by a very good friend of the family.
My now husband, wore a navy & beige/tan suit. After many..many..many..many suit shop visits, he found the perfect suit & shirt at Eurosuit Clearwater. The tie & accessories were purchased at good old china town. We decided on not having a retinue due to the additional costs & also because there were just too many friends/family to choose from
As stated previously, we did not have a retinue, however we did have two beautiful flower girls. The design for the dresses were found on an amazon & were almost replicated by Bridal Alchemy as well. I say almost because Bridal Alchemy custom design dresses and so the exact design was not replicated, which was nice because we also had a custom design for the girls
Our marriage officer was Pastor Leslie Thysson. He has been a well known pastor in our family
Our photographer for the day was Mariaan from WM Studios Photography. She was incredible! She made us at ease very quickly and knew exactly what we needed to do and where. We did hire a photobooth for the day from PhotoHat SA, however, sadly they were robbed of their vehicle & equipment on the day of our wedding.
Yes I did have a magnificent planner...my beautiful cousin - Rochelle Moodley
We actually rode to the venue in our own cars as we were getting dressed at the venue so there was no need to hire extra transport
A well known muslin caterer in our community, Ayesha prepared our main meal. All our family did the canapes during the break before the reception.
All our individual deserts were done by Nadia's Delicacies and our unique macaron tierred wedding cake was done by Sugar Bear Bakery.
At Sugarbear we believe that every wedding deserves a beautiful cake.
Our stationary package was bought online on the ETSY website. The package was very comprehensive, it even included welcome board signs, menu cards etc. All our printing was done at minuteman press - parkhurst & 14@print
Our sound, equipment & DJ was supplied by soundworx. Due to our bollywood dance entrance, we only had dance lessons with Surya Dance SA.
