It was a beautiful day in the Karoo. The day started with some quiet time where I wanted to prepare to drink in every moment as it unfolded. Final prep work and finishing touches was managed between myself and the groom via 2-way radios. Was great to hear each other's voices leading up to the ceremony. It also ensured we did not see each other as tradition rings. My favourite memory was the peace and joy in the air. Even with both of us, bride and groom, still recovering from a cold, the wind died down and the sun shone brightly to create an unforgettable outdoor wedding. Tears of gratitude started pouring when the ceremony kicked off. The time had finally come. Heaven was open and with family and friends present we could make a fearless promise. Thank you Lord for feathers and golf balls...
After the ceremony, family and friends were enjoying each other's company with canapés and games like Giant Jenga (a must at any wedding in my opinion) under the beautiful trees at the venue. In the meantime the bride and groom could enjoy the serenity and beauty that the Karoo has to offer while the photographer quickly started clicking away capturing the moments shared as newly weds. Time flew by and before we knew it the reception started in the beautiful hall. Loads of fun and dancing until late that evening kept the cold night at bay. Everyone stayed on at the venue for the remainder of the weekend to spend some time together before breaking up to take on the long road back home. Weekend long wedding ending with a "braai", just as we wanted. All glory to God for what He had done for us.
Yes, Thailand. We went hiking in Chang Mai and scuba diving in Phi-Phi.
The look was classic. My hair was done by my sister and my make-up was done by my sister in law. The wedding dress was created by Ilse Roux Bridal and all other items and accessories was bought at different shops in Cape Town.

The wedding ceremony and reception was held on The Vale Karoo Farm on the Friday. We then together with our wedding party stayed over on the farm for the remainder of the weekend to spend more time together before heading back home.
The Vale's beautiful natural setting makes it a wonderful country venue for a romantic wedding in the Karoo.
Healthy eating and regular exercise was the only thing that really helped to lower stress levels and prepare for the big day.
Our colour scheme was black, white and burgundy. The flowers were predominantly Proteas with True Blue Eucalyptus. The bride's bouquet was a King Protea with Gypsophila. All flowers including the boutonnières were done by the mother of the bride. The reception hall was lit by warm white fairy lights running throughout the entire hall. The wooden floors and tables with floating candles in small vases enhanced the warm atmosphere. All table decor was created and done by the bride and groom.
For the groom we went shopping at different shops in both Johannesburg and Cape Town to find each specific item to create the ensemble that we were hoping for.
My sister was my bridesmaid. We gave her the freedom to create her own look based on our colour scheme. She has great taste so it was easy to let her decide what to wear.
My father.
The photographer, Tertius Gous, knew the venue well . He was a perfect match for us as he moved and captured the moments of the ceremony and reception without distracting the wedding party. Such a great eye!
The video was captured by the guys from Tzilum Productions. Very friendly crew that delivered a professional product.
Nope. We did our own planning.

The canapé and the food at the reception was prepared and served by the venue, The Vale Karoo Farm. The wedding cake was made by the bride and groom. The "cake" was golf balls that consisted of cake pops covered in white chocolate with a shortcake biscuit center. These were all spread over three tiers of LPs while spinning on a LP player. The cake stand was designed and built by the groom and the groom's father.

The design and printing was done by the bride and groom.
We have been dancing together since we started dating so we did not take any lessons. The venue was too far for the live band that we had in mind, so we hired a DJ that were recommended by the venue.
