I used to think it's pretty much cliche for a bride to say that her whole wedding day was memorable but I was proved wrong. I luckily did not have any nerves beforehand. I was calm & excited to walk down the aisle towards the man of my dreams & begin the rest of our lives together.
A memorable moment to me was when I was standing next to my husband, his eyes were tearing up & I wiped away a stray tear. To see him so emotional & happy was the best feeling.
My parents also surprised me by bringing along my fur-baby, Bella, who lives with them for my wedding. She was my unofficial flower girl.
A highlight for me was opening the beer keg we got for the wedding. My husband & I are in to craft beer & are known in our families & group of friends as the beer experts. We decided to provide two kegs from Stellenbosch Brewing company for the wedding & have a ceremonial opening of the keg like they do when it's Octoberfest & having the first glasses of beer from the kegs before inviting the guests to help themselves.
We are planning on going on a proper Honeymoon once we've saved some money so we just had a 2 day getaway to Bergsicht Country Farm Cottages in Tulbagh. We had the most amazing stay & time exploring the town, wine tasting, having amazing meals & relaxing in a Starlight Jacuzzi at Vindoux Spa.
I am a jeans & t-shirt girl & not into wearing too much make-up. I love being natural. So having my make-up, hair & nails done was an experience as I am not used to it but Alicia from Blush did such an amazing job in making me look beautiful. I also did not want a lot of bling on my jewellery so went with rose gold earrings to match my engagement ring (now wedding ring). I wore a long sleeve wedding dress with lace so I did not want to clutter it with a ton of jewellery. My shoes were comfortable rose gold flats with a slight wedge heel. I was all about comfort on my wedding day.

We got married at the beautiful Groenrivier Function Centre in Riebeek West, Western Cape.
Right after we got engaged, the tedious search for a venue began. Groenrivier was our first, & luckily, only stop. We were in love from the get go and knew that this is where we wanted to host our wedding.
A plus to the venue was that it was the complete package. We had our ceremony & reception on the grounds & also stayed in their lovely bridal room. My parents & our bridal party shared the farm house on the grounds as well for the weekend. Made it very convenience to have accommodation on the venue grounds.
The rest of the guests stayed at various guest houses in Riebeek West.
A wonderful country venue set in the heart of one of Cape's most beautiful valleys.
I didn't really have a regime leading up to the wedding. I tried to detox every other week just to get rid of some toxins. I am lucky that I don't really have problem skin so maintaining that wasn't a problem.
We wanted a rustic forest feel for our decor combined with rose gold decor (lanterns & geometric shapes) to match my ring. We incorporated the wedding colours of navy & burgundy, especially with the flowers. We didn't want to crowd the tables too much & keep it as simple & beautiful as possible.

The groom & his groomsmen wore suits from Mr Suit Hire in Roma Blue with the groom wearing a grey Roma Blue waistcoat to set him apart. We accentuated the suit with maroon ties & pocket squares & formal brown shoes from Mr Price.
My bridesmaids wore beautiful 3/4 sleeved lace dresses in Burgundy from Hoiden Bridesmaids Cape Town. Because our wedding was in winter I wanted to make sure they wore something that was comfy & warm but still beautiful. They all looked amazing.
Our marriage officer was Troy Goldie. My husband & I wanted to find someone who would make our ceremony memorable & fun & not something you would wish to be over just to get to the reception. We were blessed to come across Troy who is such a lovely person & lively & interactive with the crowd. Everyone was wowed by him & couldn't believe it when the ceremony was over. The half hour went so quickly. We were truly blessed to have Troy marry us. I would recommend him to anybody.
The beauty of the fundamental nature of a rustic wedding is that simple touches with a lot of personality can speak volumes.
