Every aspect of our wedding is a highlight! If I had to choose, I would say the highlight is that we had a mini-vacation with our closest family and friends. It was not just a one-day thing, which was amazing.
But the BIGGEST highlight was my husbands reaction when he saw me walking down the isle.
We went to Mauritius
It is most definately THE PERFECT HONEYMOON destination!
Im not usually one to sit and do nothing, but to be on such a romantic island with my hubby... I had to just relax and do nothing with him next to my side. Especially after all the stress of the wedding arrangements, it was just what the wedding-doctor ordered!
Enzoani dress, plain and mermaid was what i was going for. A little lace at the top end then just plain with a very low back (my husbands wish).
My hair was curled and put to one side so that my back was visible. I wore jelly wedge shoes which was so so comfortable! (and easy to take off to walk on the beach). My jewelry was from Lovisa and all of it was rose gold. My jewelry had a vintage look, nice long earrings, beutiful stretchy bracelets and a beautiful head piece (more like a stretchy head band).
My make up was just a little less than dramatic. A smokey eye, but not toooo dark.
Villa Isabella,
We got married the Saturday, guests arrived the Thursday. Most of the guests slept at the venue, so it was a long weekend full of celebrations!
I just made sure to keep up my cleaning routine with products that my skin is used to (I tend to react to any other products so I did not even try to use something else). I bought a teeth whitening kit at a dentist and used it for 4 to 5 nights before the wedding.
I did the 28 day diet roughly about 3 months before our wedding, but I stressed so much and that made me eat everything that I saw. I just decided not to overthink my weight and to just try and eat healthy (28 day diet meals here and there), and I just lost all the weight as soon as I stopped stressing.
We love the minimalistic look. Because our venue is so beautiful, we did not want too many decor. We had a few white flowers, greenery and lots of candles. We went for the tropical look mixed with white and glass elements.
The groom and groomsmen wore shorts (just above the knee) from Mr. Price. Long sleeved white button shirts from Woolworths. White slip on shoes from Edgars and bow ties made from kiddies Mr. Price shirts (we just LOVED the print on the shirts so my bridesmaid mom did her magic and turned 2 shirts into 8 bow ties!)
They wore (very different, not your usual, not your traditional) tropical short, boobtube dresses. We bought them at a Chinese Shop and just added some lace at the bottom of the dresses. It fitted in so nicely with our theme and also with the mens' look.
We actually did the formal wedding and paper work 1 week before our actual wedding. We went to Home Affairs in Pretoria. A very close family friend did a beautiful Blessing service for us at our actual wedding.
It was so special and just something we will never forget. We had a destination wedding so we just did not see why we should let a stranger marry us that doesnt even know us.
Misty Kisses Photography.
We had a photo booth corner for our guests to take their own photos.
My Maid of Honour and Bridesmaids helped me through every step of the wedding.
Because it was such a small wedding, we decided to take on the task of doing everything ourselves.
We stayed at the venue so no transport was needed.
Food was done by KZN caterers. A spitbraai, with lots of meat, just like we like it. Nothing fancy, just delicious!
Our oversized Choc Chip Cookie cake was done by Nadia, Cherry on Top in Kzn.
We decided to do everything electronically.
The invitation was actually a home made video of our trip to KZN, checking out our venue for the first time! It was SUPER special!
Table number was printed with a normal printer.
Sound was provided by the venue. One of my dearest friends made the most amazing playlist and she handled all the music!
We did not even reherse our dance 1 time! We just decided to wing it! It was super special. Tat moment was one of the highlights as well!
