It all happened on the the 4th of May, 2019, at Inimitable Wedding Venue in Zwartkops. I can still remember my heart beating in my throat just before Zavion Kotze opened the big wooden gates of the courtyard in the Bridal Suite, revealing the long walkway of stairs that would take me down to the chapel. The seconds counting down..5..4..3...overtures of Conquest of Paradise ringing in my ears..2..1..it is time. My time. The amount of adrenaline rushing through my veins when the gates opened, left me with a feeling of walking clouds. To this day I can't imagine how I had managed to walk down (what felt like) hundreds of stairs towards the glass chapel where my king awaited the arrival of his queen. I will never forget the look on his face when I met him at the altar. It was as if time stood still for a moment. it was then that I knew my heart was home.
It took quite some time for us to decide on a honeymoon destination. My husband is quite the the romantic so I knew it wouldn't be just another destination. He is someone who plans and executes things in a very analytical way. Eventually we decided on Bali. It was the best two weeks of our lives. We started our honeymoon in Seminyak at the Anantara resort. We thoroughly enjoyed the hustle and bustle of the very popular tourism area. From there where went to Ubud, where I am sure a piece of my heart still remains. The peace and love in the picturesque rainforest left us both in awe. We can't wait to return to Bali to relive our memorable adventure.
I think everybody knew that I was going to pull a very different bunny from the hat for the look that I was going for. Think Audrey Hepburn meets Lady Gaga. I knew that I wanted a very dramatic look which still remained classy. Anel Botha designed my dress. I had an idea of what I wanted during our first consultation but she completely blew it out the park with execution. My dress was perfect. A minimalistic, never seen before, dramatic piece of art. She also had my Jewellery custom made by Rockabella in Klerksdorp. Schultz gave me the exact hairstyle that I was hoping to get. My hair can be tricky to work with as it is extremely long, but she did the job effortlessly. Geraldi Spurling (in collaboration with MakeUp by Ryno) was my make-up artist. She brought my inner inner goddess to life and executed the drama perfectly with her brushes. she did such a great job that I didn't even need to touch up my make-up later during the day. As I a shoe fanatic, I knew that it was going to be tricky to find the perfect pair. It was very coincidental that I came across a shop in Sandton City called Luminance. I found them there. The perfect pair of white satin stiletto's designed by Manolo Blahnik. It was perfect.
We got married at the most beautiful, brand new wedding venue in Gauteng. Inimitable Wedding Venue stole our hearts from the moment we drove through the front gates. Our immediate family members stayed with us on the premises at Inimitable. The other guests stayed at guest houses in the surrounding area.
Funny enough, I didn't do anything out of the ordinary from my daily self care routine. I am very health conscious so I tend to take care of myself every day. I exercise regularly and make sure that I eat quality food to provide the best fuel for my body to function at its best. As a doctor practising aesthetic medicine, I was already on a great skin care protocol long before our big day. I believe that beauty will radiate from the inside outward, if you take the time and steps to nurture yourself daily.
Zander and I were very particular of the look that we wanted for the wedding and we knew that we will need the best of the best to get this look. We worked with Zavion Kotze Events Company to plan our wedding and to design the decor on the day. We ultimately went for a modern, masculine look with lots of greenery, feminised by white flowers scattered between the dramatic greenery. Our theme colours were black, white and gold. Even our guests were requested to wear the theme colours only. This resulted in great visual effect for the photography and videography. We had very little elements that we needed to rent as the venue and ZKEC already stocked the supplies that was required to perfect the decor.
Zander always knew that he would wear a Hugo Boss suit to his wedding. It took some convincing but I managed to twist his arm to wear a full tuxedo. He looked absolutely gorgeous wearing his black Hugo Boss tux and Mark horsebit Gucci loafers. His groomsmen were dressed exactly the same, wearing black dress suits from Eurosuit.
Luckily my mother, Marthie Schonert, is an incredible seamstress. She made the dresses of the bridesmaids, flowergirls and our French Bulldog, Mika. The bridesmaids all wore black mermaid gowns, with a sweetheart bodice and gloss gold waist belts.

Andrew Draper was the chef who did all of our catering. We had pre-reception canapé's, a full harvest table with oyster and champagne stations (I mean WOW), and a plated six course menu, fine dining style.
Kelly Jane made our absolutely breath taking cake. It was a three tier geocake..refer to the gallery- you have to see it to believe it. Master artist!
Being absolute coffee connoisseurs, Zander and I decided to set up a Barista at the venue to serve good quality coffe to our guests. It was quite a hit. The Barista Boys definitely elevated the experience for our guests.
