One of my most favourite moments was my father-daughter dance. With my parents living on another continent, it was a dream come true to have my father by my side, all the way from Colorado USA. Another memorable moments was my new husband and I feeding the elephants and getting nice and muddy in our wedding attire. It was such fun!
Thanks to the piggy bank and all our savings, we were lucky enough to have the honeymoon of our dreams. We went to Zanzibar, Tanzania where we made lifelong friends with the locals and had many eye-opening experiences. What a magical two weeks!
We had a Lord of The Rings inspired wedding and my look was that of Galadriel from Lord of the Rings. I designed my dress myself and it was made by Ricca Dee, a custom wedding dress designer based in Centurion. I had an Elven crown made by a small time jeweler who works from home, DieSaar. My shoes were Blu Betty vellies, laced with organza ribbon and the Pop-Up hair Salon did my hair. I decided to do my own make up as I wanted a more natural look.
We got married at Askari Game Lodge and Spa in Magaliesburg. We had only 51 guests and they all stayed at the Lodge for the weekend. We had a wonderful weekend wedding and celebrated with all our close friends and family with game drives and huge family dinners.

I just tried to eat healthy and take care of myself naturally. I did home face masks for the month leading up to the wedding tried to stay calm and prevent stress. I am a very natural and layed back person so dollying up with teeth whitening and spa treatments aren't really my thing
My décor was woodland inspired. The tables were decorated with miss table runners and candles. Our colours were ox blood, forest green, duck egg and rose gold. We wanted to bring the forest inside our reception which was held in a wooden thatch roof conference area. We had fairy lights hanging above all the tables and also a couple of white flowers in between the greenery.
The groom wore a dark beige three-piece suit and textured maroon tie from Your Pal. The groomsmen wore white shirts and beige chinos from Woolworths and bowties from Your Pal. The groomsmen and groom all wore comic book themed cufflinks from an online store called Mantality.

The bridesmaids wore duck edd infinity dresses made by Ricca Dee, the same designer who made my wedding dress. They all wore brown leather pumps from Woolworths and rose gold leaf alicebands from Claire's, inspired by my Elven crown.
My husband's brother officiated our marriage. It was very intimate and emotional. We said our own vows and my brother-in-law told the most beautiful stories about our relationship.
My husband's uncle took all our photos. He is an independent artists and we wanted to keep all our photos natural and have only raw, unedited photos to capture the true beauty of the venue and our natural surroundings.

One of our groomsmen is a graphic designer and he designed our save the date, invitations, table numbers, seating chart and name cards. His name is Zayn Opperman
The reception was amazing and we had a very good friend of ours who is also a local DJ and has played at many dance parties over the years, Phizicist aka Zain Ebrahim, to be our wedding DJ. He had the most amazing playlist and it was definitely the thing which our guests went on about for weeks after the wedding. We had a first dance to the song Happy Together by the Turtles and went for lessons at a dance school. We rented all our sou d equipment from a sou d company in Randburg.
