My most memorable moment was the moment my father walked me down the isle and my now husband came into view. That was the moment it finally dawned on me that the day finally arrived. I was getting married to my best friend.
Another special moment was our dance. Both of us are not the best dancers and was practicing on our own for a few nights but just could not get our rythm in tune, but that night we danced as if we were one and for the first time really enjoyed dancing together. It was the best, heartwarming feeling ever.
Another very special moment was when my husband surprised me with a card and bunch of roses while getting dressed. I was in tears with his sweet words.
Yes. We went to Mauritius for our honeymoon. We stayed at Mauricia beachcomber an all inclusive resort and spa. They ensured a very romantic stay. We got to know a lot about the culture and got to see the beauty of the entire island.
I searched for a dress in PE, Bloemfontein and Kimberley and was about to get a custom made dress, but then with a final trip to Johannesburg I found THE dress at Euro Bride. It is an off the shoulder mermaid dress with pearls on the entire top part of the dress mixed with some crystals for a bit of "bling".
I paired this with sterling silver drop earrings bought at Lovisa and all white open toe block heels that I bought at Edgars. I went for a bold make up look with a subtle smokey eye and a maroon lipstick that was done by Grace Case Beauty (Carmen Bock) in Upington. I couldn't decide if I wanted my hair up or down, so I decided to do side swept curls and thus get both effects. My hair was done by Shock Waves Hairsalon ( Charleigh Duursema) in Upington. I absolutely loved my final look and would not change a thing.
We got married in Upington, Northern Cape at Bezalel Wine and Brandy Estate Cellars. Most of our guests resides in Upington, but those that came from far stayed at Ru-Na Guesthouse, Princess York Guesthouse and Princess G Guesthouse in Upington.
Months before the wedding, I started to eat more healthy. I ate more proteins, almost no carbohydrates and decreased my dairy intake as well. My diet consisted mostly of vegetables and protein. Two months before the wedding I took a big chance and changed my skin products, because I had a lot of break outs due to stress and my previous products was not efficient anymore. Luckily the new products (Mineraline) that I am still using helped to clear my face in time for the wedding. I also went for a deep clean facial at Hadassah laser Clinic Upington, a week before the wedding just to make sure my face will be spotless and smooth. I also went for waxing at Evolve Hair Upington (Dorette Dryer) of my entire body to ensure my skin looks smooth and clean.
The groomsmen wore blue suits with a burgandy bow tie and brown shoes. The suits were bought at Markhams and the shoes at various shops. The groom also wore a blue suit, but a shade darker (navy) than the groomsmen, a navy waist coat, burgandy tie and brown shoes. The groom bought his suit at Euro Suit and his shoes online at Zando.
The bridesmaids had their dresses made in Bloemfontein. The dresses they designed themselves. However like all weddings, something can and will go wrong. A week before the wedding they received their dresses and had to find a dress maker in Upington to fix all of the dresses since none of it fit well and the dresses was incomplete. The dress had an open back and was a flowy A-line burgandy dress. They received the dresses on the wedding day an hour before we had to leave for the church ceremony. It all worked out perfectly. They paired their dresses with an up style hairdo (also done by Shock Waves Hairsalon in Upington), gold and nude open toe block heels (bought at various shops) and drop earrings from Lovisa.
My Marriage Officer was my uncle, Jeffrey Fransman. He made the long trip from Worcester, WC to marry us.
Epic Motion was our photographer and videographer. We are very camera shy and they managed to capture the most beautiful photos of our day and of us. They knew exactly where to take pictures and did not miss any special moment. They also set up a photo booth inside the venue where the guests could take pictures of themselves and download this later on a website. They created the most amazing short video of our special moments.
Our wedding planner was Yolande van der Merwe from All About Events. She went beyond my expectations and went the extra mile to ensure I got everything I wanted.
My husband and I were transported in a white Ford Mustang GT that we rented at Ford Upington. The groomsmen and bridemaids were transported in white bmw 3 series borrowed from family members.
The food was prepared by the venue, Bezalel Wine and Brandy Estate. The Cake and dessert bar was prepared by Lauren Bezuidenhout at Bezalel as well. Everything looked and tasted absolutely amazing.
