We had a small wedding and were able to mingle with all of our guests, so I enjoyed being able to spend time with each and every person
I love horses and we had a miniature pony as our ring bearer
Our wedding dance was from a YouTube video which we practiced at home together, it was well worth the effort as it ended up being a memorable moment for all the guests that were there
We went to St Lucia for a week and took our fur babies with us
The dogs loved the ocean and we enjoyed the quiet time
My look was classical
My hair was an up style (done by Nikki Denoon) with the makeup being natural (By Maryke Verster)
I had the dress designed and made with a detachable train so I could remove it after the ceremony and photos (Made by Kelsey Theron Wedding Boutique)
The only jewellery that I wore were earrings and a bracelet (which used to belong to my Great Aunt who passed away a few years ago)
Wedding shoes were my favourite colour (pink)
We got married at Gecko Ridge Functions and Guesthouse in Pretoria
14 of our guests stayed the night at the Guesthouse at the venue
Part of my bachelorette was a visit to the spa where we had a few massages
I have always been active and stuck to my road running training up until the week before the wedding
I had my hair cut and coloured 2 days before the wedding by the lady who's been doing my hair for the past 5 years (and also came to my wedding)
We went for the rustic look, with the underplates being made of cut tree trunks
There were faerie lights hung along the ceiling and draped down behind the main table, with little ones under the centre piece of each table
I did the flower arrangements myself. A simple look with desert roses, proteas, eucalyptus leaves and gyp
Each centre piece was on a bigger wooden underplate lifted up from the table with the leaves and faerie lights underneath.
Placed on each centre piece was a lantern with a candle in, then desert roses and proteas were placed around it with 4 tealight candles
The groomsmen all wore beige pants, brown shoes and white shirts. The groom had on a beige waist coat with a pink tie, all of which were rented from Black Tie in Pretoria
In addition we gave the groomsmen pink bowties and brown suspenders to complete the looks
The bridesmaids wore a long pink skirt (which my mother made), with white Tommy Takkies and a plain white t-shirt which we stuck 3 lines of diamantes on the shoulders to bling it up a little
The look was straight out of the movie 'Grease'
We also gave them a small flower crown to wear
Our marriage officer was one that the venue suggested for us (Wed by Jaco)
What we liked most about him was the fact that he did the ceremony in English (as the majority of people are English - me included) but he said my husbands vows in Afrikaans (as he is Afrikaans)
Our wedding photographer was JC Crafford Photo and Video
They know the venue very well as they have been there many times before
But what I liked most about them was the fact that they send out a 'sneak peak' of the pictures just days after the wedding. They get all of our guests email addresses and send them a link to the pictures with a personal 'Thank you' from us.
They also don't give us a time limit on the day and give us all of the pictures that were taken
I love photo booths, and so my bridesmaids arranged one for me as a gift (Elegant Photobox Photo Booth)
The photo booth was a big hit, with a huge table full of props and many laughs
I did all of the planning myself :)
The food was prepared by the venue, we had a huge variety to choose from and everything tasted great
The wedding cake and cupcakes were made with love from one of my bridesmaids (Wilma Botha) and she did a fantastic job. She doesn't do this for a living but they really looked amazing, most people thought that the plants on the cake were real instead of handmade
I made small little 'thank you' cards which I hand cut and placed on each place mat with 2 sprigs of lavender tied to each
The table seating plan was made by us, using a wooden pallet with faerie lights and each persons photo pegged on (instead of just their name) to show where they must sit
We had a dj whom the venue provided for us
Our wedding dance was from a YouTube video, this we practiced at home after work and on weekends with many an argument, but it was definitely worth it in the end
