I always imagined having an outdoor ceremony and we chose our venue because it has an amazing river chapel that overlooks a mountain. It is closed off with trees and truly feels like you are somewhere else.
We were so excited to have such an amazing ceremony area but on the morning of the wedding we had to make the decision to move it into the chapel as the forecast showed some rain. The forecast said "some" rain but we decided not to take a chance, thank goodness we made that decision as at 11 am while having my hair done, a huge storm came in. Lots of rain and lightning.
I was worried about our guests driving and staying dry, and I was worried we would be stuck inside the whole day.
As the time came closer to the ceremony, it lightened and luckily our venue had a golf cart to take me to the chapel.
I was nervous as to how the decor would look as we had a clear vision for the river chapel. But when I walked in, there was an amazing arch filled with flowers and it looked wonderful.
It was truly a spectacular ceremony with a few good laughs.
When we came out the chapel, the rain was gone, the sun coming through and a mist on the hills of the venue could be seen.
We were able to have beautiful pictures taken as everything was green and fresh, guests were not uncomfortable and the rest of our night went perfectly!
They say it's good to have rain on your wedding day and even though I prayed it wouldn't rain, I wouldn't have changed our wedding for the world.
It was the best day of our lives and if I could live it over again I would a thousand times!
We are going to Germany in December. This will be an amazing experience for us as we will have our first winter Christmas and we will celebrate my husband's 30th.
My dress is covered in lace with a vintage look. It has small pearls and bling on it. It definitely has a unique factor as it has a deep cut in the front of my dress but it still looks classy.
My hair was pinned up with a beautiful Diamante clip on the side. It was special as the clip is a family piece ❤️
My make up was done soft and natural with eyelash extensions. I loved my make up as I still looked like myself just more polished off. My Hair and Make Up was done by Michelle Pretorius
My jewelry was silver with pearls, a simple drop necklace with matching ear ring and a bracelet. I had another family piece from my mother in law who gave me a beautiful pearl ring to pull it all together.
My shoes had a satin look with a Diamante bow in front.
My bouquet was the most amazing arrangements, I had light blue hydrangeas and babies breath and it looked great!
We got married at Makiti venue just outside of Krugersdorp. We fell in love with this venue as we wanted a very natural, green wedding and they have hills apon hills of greenery. The view is breathtaking and all natural.
Some of our guests stayed over as Makiti has accommodation at the venue.
I watched what I ate and began taking Pilates class.
I had my teeth whitened and mad sure to do all the waxing, tinting and spray tanning before the big day.
I had a facial, pedecure and of course a massage as I was a big ball of stress the week before.
My aunt did my nails as she is a nail technician, I went for nature French with a little bling.
Our decor was based on greenary and dusty blue. Simple yet elegant.
Our flowers were eucalyptus leaves, white roses, hydrangeas and babies breath layed out as a runner over our tables.
We had fairy lights and candles in between our flowers.
We had Tiffany chairs and round tables.
Our gifts were unique as we had custom paintings for all our guests to choose from.
My husband wore an ocean blue suit without a tie and was highlighted with leather shoes and a leather belt.
The groomsmen wore ocean blue pants, leather shoes and leather suspenders.
Our ring bearer wore a suit.
My bridesmaids wore custom made tulle skirts and a top of their choosing. Their hair was curled and finished off with flower crowns.
Our flower girl wore the same.
24hr Photography captured our special day and it was such a pleasure having them there. They were professional yet felt like part of our family. They made us feel comfortable and made sure to catch all the moments of our day.
We had a photo booth at the wedding that was also from 24hr Photography and the guests loved it! It was something we are so happy to have had.
Makiti prepared our food, which was delisious!
My sister/made of honor made our wedding cake as she owns a bakery.
It was exactly what we wanted! It was on a stand that appeared to upside down and we had three yummy flavours: chocolate and cherry, lemon and vanilla.
I designed and printed my own stationary. It took many hours to make everything but it was exactly as we wanted it.
We practised at home our dance at home and it was an example of us.
Our sound and lighting was done by Makiti and we had a DJ from Makiti.
He did a wonderful job of keeping people on the dance floor and kept with the music we asked for.
