I do not only have one highlight, everything about our day was a highlight (I don't mean that to sound cliche). Spending the morning with my wonderful parents and my beautiful bridal party. Dancing the night away with our guests and making such beautiful memories.
I do, remember though, being almost an hour late to church! The priest had asked the groom if he should go out into the street to see for a bride in the meantime! Our late arrival added some drama to the morning.
We stayed at the Atlantic Beach Country Club Lodge for about 3 days.
A week after the wedding we left for Mauritius, less of a honeymoon because we had a second wedding reception with my husbands' family.
Hair: Ashleigh's hair
Make-up: Jay1 by Jodie Alexander
As I do not wear makeup, I prefer a natural look. That is exactly what our make-up artist did perfectly. My make up, as well that of the bridal party was comfortable and absolutely stunning! It complemented out dresses and hair perfectly. I had an upstyle which was messy and framed my tiara. The girls, each, had different styles which complemented the design of their dresses.
Dress: Viola Chan design, bought from Bride & Co Canal Walk
My wedding dress was fitted at the bust and had a ballgown skirt. The perfect Princess dress! Sequence in all the right places.
Silver tiara: My something old :)
Silver jewellery: Bride & Co Canal Walk
My mother-in-law gifted me with a family heirloom, gold earrings and necklace. Later on, for the reception, I opted to change my jewellery to a simple silver necklace, bracelet and earrings.
Shoes: Steve Madden Canal Walk
I absolutely loved my shoes! Glass heel, rose gold sequenced.
We opted for a church ceremony, which was held at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholica Church in Milnerton. Our reception was held at Atlantic Beach Country Club in Melkbosstrand. Mariska and her team, as well as Suzanne and her team made sure that our reception was everything we dreamt of and more.
Although the guests did not stay the night, as it was fairly close for everyone to get home, my husband and I stayed at the Lodge for a few days.
I had no set regime before the wedding, I just ensured that I continued with fitcamp with 8020Fit and kept to my Herbalife meal plans.
Simple, yet elegant was what we were going for. Our colours were rose gold, blush pink and royal blue. Our table settings consisted of classic table cloths with a rose gold sequenced runner and blush pink chair ties, the table also had a lantern with flowers in it and rose gold votive candles; guest settings consisted of gold underplates, classic white plate, royal blue napkin and a menu printed on a gold colour paper.
We used a variety of flowers that were in bloom. Suzanne, Melkboss Decor, did an amazing job bringing my vision to life!
The venue had its own lighting, with the heavy chandaliers giving light. The only light that we added was the fairylight curtain behind the main table.
The groom and his groomsmen got their suits tailor made in their home town, at Lemon Yellow in Port Louis Mauritius.
The groom wore a royal blue suit, white waistcoat and shirt, with a royal blue tie. He completed his look with brown shoes. The groomsmen wore royal blue suits, white shirts and pink ties, also completing their look with brown shoes.
The bridesmaids and maid of honor wore blush pink and rose gold dresses from the Bride & Co Goddess Collection. There were three girls and each of them wore a different style. One bridesmaid, Jade, wore a dress with broad sequenced straps; Tamzen's dress had detail on the back with thinner straps running down the back of the dress; and my maid of honour opted for a sequenced boobtube.
Our photographer, Irene Palmer, was amazing!
We did not have a planner for the day, my mom and I did all the planning and the arranginging.
However, our venue offered a wonderful coordination service. Mariska and her team were amazing, with their help everything was absolutely perfect and it all ran so smoothly. Mariska is wonderful, she made it all seem so effortless! We were blessed to have her on our team :).
We used Exclusive Limousine Hire.
The venue did the catering. The food was tastier than I imagined it would be.
We had our delicious wedding cake made by Carmen's Creations. A few weeks later, we still had cake left over and it was still as fresh as the day that we cut it!
I used, Canva, to design our save the dates, the formal invitations and the menu.
PhotoFinish, the printed and cut our menu's to size. They also printed the physical invitations. We made use of minted.com for our wedding website, which made it easier to catalogue our rsvp's.
We did not take any dance lessons, we stuck to a slow dance. My husband and my mother-in-law did a little bit of a traditional Saga dance, which added so much fun to the reception.
We had the best mix of old school and newer music, UB's Entertainment is the best! All I had to do was send a list of the important music (e.g. Father-daughter dance and first dance) and the DJ took care of the rest. He also gave some suggestions where I may have been stuck.
Melkbosstrand Decor and Functions did all our lighting within the venue, there was no need for any extra lighting.
