Most definitely when I walked down the isle with my dad, I looked up and locked eyes with my husband for the first time. Secondly when my husband made his speech. I was nervous as I didn’t think that he had prepared anything but his speech couldn’t have been more perfect and sincere (I had to wipe away quite a few tears). Thirdly our first dance. I think it really set the tone for this special day that was filled with romance, love and intimacy shared with only our nearest and dearest.
We went to Mauritius for a beautiful 7 day getaway. We had perfect weather and spent our days lazing in the sun, sipping on cocktails, snorkeling and kayaking. After the wedding madness this was the exact kind of holiday we needed just to relax, unwind and enjoy one another’s company.
My beautiful dress is Liana by Alena Leena (available at The Wedding Boutique). My hair and make-up was done by the very talented Lisa Bailey (represented by Supernovacm). Rebecca Minkoff nude stilettos.
I wore, both vintage, diamond necklace and bracelet.
Our studios based in Cape Town and Johannesburg are fresh, vibrant and above all modern.
We got married at Cafe Felix in Riebeek Kasteel. I loved the rustic, Tuscan atmosphere of this very intimate venue. Only our wedding party stayed at the venue. The rest of our guests stayed in Riebeek Kasteel.
The food is the strong point of Café Felix and a choice of set menus or a harvest table can be recommended.
I had most of my beauty treatments done at Meraki Aesthetics CapeTown. I’ve been going here for years therefore this was my natural choice. I also had teeth whitening done at The Cosmetic & Dental Emporium at the V&A Waterfront. All hair treatments prior to the wedding day were done at Mop Hair.
This was a Tuscan inspired wedding which which encapsulated my love for Italy, Tuscany in particular. The feel was romantic with lots of greenery, blush vintage roses, blush delphiniums and soft dahlias. For the ceremony we had white benches with white scatter cushions, a white runner and then a beautiful wooden arch with blush draping and flowers. After the ceremony the guests relaxed in an outside lounge setting, sipping on Aperol Spritz cocktails and Montpelier Chardonnay. This was served with cheese and charcuterie platters, freshly baked breads, a selection of bruschetta and an assortment of the Italian classic, pizza!
Lastly you entered the reception area which felt like you were in a whimsical fantasy land. There were two long beautifully laid tables with alternating light bulbs and florals overhead. Each table had a table runner consisting of leaves and blush florals running down the centre of each table, grey under plates and blush linen napkins with each guests name immaculately attached to it.
I could not have asked for a better execution of what I wanted. San-Marie from Creative Nook is a true magician and she exceeded all my expectations.
The groom and best man wore black slim fitted tuxedos from Smart Men Suit Hire.
Wandi wore a black maxi dress from Amanda Laid Cherry with black Jimmy Choo stilettos.
Elton wore a slim fitted dark navy Gucci suit with black patent brogues from Kurt Geiger.
My father, Malcolm McPherson
Accomplished friend and photographer, Divvie Maritz from Div Maritz Photography captured the day.
San-Marie from Creative Nook did my wedding planning. Being a stylist myself, it was hard to choose someone I could really trust but San-Marie not only did a perfect execution, she exceeded my expectations!
I got dressed at the venue where the ceremony and reception were held, therefore we had no wedding transport.
As starters we had spinach and ricotta ravioli with sage butter which I had brought in from one of my favorite restaurants in Cape Town, The Cousins.
The rest of the menu which consisted of lemon granita (palate cleanser), 200g rump steak with mushroom and truffle sauce, pomme anna and rocket parmesan salad (main course) and tiramisu (desert) were prepared by Cafe Felix. Food was served with Krone bubbly, Montpelier Chardonnay and Montpelier Cabinet Sauvignon.
This was not one of the menu options they have available but one that I created to tie in with my Italian / Tuscan theme.
The food is the strong point of Café Felix and a choice of set menus or a harvest table can be recommended.
San-Marie, from Creative Nook did all the stationery for the wedding.
The reception area was a magical floral paradise which reminded one of being in the Tuscan countryside. It had a vintage, feel to it as if straight out of a romantic novel.
All music sound and lighting was done by Darren Rose.
