Yes. We kept it local and went up the garden route for 6 days. Who needs to go overseas when we have such incredible places here in South Africa. We spent 2 nights in Plett at Trogan house which was absolutely stunning; 2 nights in Knysna at the starry forest lodge and 2 nights in Wildnerness at Pocurpine Pie lodge. Each place was incredible and special. Thank you also to creative honeymoon solutions who assisted us with planning the whole honeymoon. I strongly recommend asking creative honeymoon solutions to assist you if you want to stay local.
The wedding feel was very rustic and earthy. We tried to do a lot of DIY to save costs and we had many helping hands to assist us in setting up. I found my wedding dress online (can you believe it) and I asked a very talented dress maker to make some changes to it (the beautiful buttons you see on the dress and a few bits and bobs). I strongly recommend Gayle Wilkie to sort you out with your dress. She is absolutely incredible. A lovely lady from Porterville (Laatson Skoonheid) did mine and the bridesmaid's makeup which looked incredible and Nicole Slater (Style- Flores) did our hair. A wonderful family friend created the bridesmaid's dresses and I just loved how everything came together.
We got married in Porterville at Laatson Onthale. It was an absolutely incredible venue which had everything we wanted. It had a big dance floor and ample space for our guests however it still felt intimate and cozy. It has a very rustic feel which was exactly what we wanted. The venue also has an old stable which we used as the ceremony venue and the guests stayed at the venue in their stunning self-catering cottages. I loved the venue because it has so much character and made it easy to work with.
Theresa Truter did all our printing and it was abosultely incredible. She made our guest book, printed our t-shirts, printed the menus, lables of the olive oil bottles, table numbers etc. See our photos for more info. Find Theresa on facebook under la breeze.
