It really is impossible to describe the day that was our wedding. We first met online, chatted for a week or so. What was meant to be a coffee date turned into dinner and when I first looked into Christo's blue eyes, I was hooked on his positivity, his demeanor and outgoing personality. The next day my 3 year old son, Stephan, and I were on our way with Christo and his parents to their holiday home on the West Coast. I came home on the Sunday and said to my dad "As hy my vandag vra om te trou dan se ek ja!"
I think the most memorable moment was seeing his face when I walked down the aisle. I had never seen him look at me that way and I fell even more in love with him on our wedding day. He really is the best husband and father to our boy that I could ask for.
Christo surprised me with a 7 day holiday to Mauritius. It was out of this world!!!
With my dress the choice was very obvious. Many years ago I met a stunning man who became a 'harts vriend'. JD is swiss and we met while working abroad. He moved to SA and met Hendrik Vermeulen, fell in love and got married. Hendrik is a professional couturier and I said many years ago he must make my dress one day when I get married. Fast forward 7 years and we sat cosily at our braai and Hendrik started sketching. My only request was that I wanted a dusty pink element in the dress and the rest I totally trusted them to make me look beautiful on our wedding day. And he over delivered on something that I could not have dreamed of. The most beautiful creation!!!
This was the best decision we ever made. Eensgezind was fantastic, beautiful and so supportive throughout the planning process. The decor was so special and classy and food was out of this world.

This was also quite an obvious choice. Christo was in college with Nelis Engelbrecht, both studied Farm Management in their first year before Christo's accident which left him paralyzed.
Now Nelis is really one of the best photographers. So when we decided to go with Nelis, he went out of his way to make our moments special. Our engagement shoot we said let's just do it in his studio to make it easier for everyone. Nelis decided we deserved to be treated like any other client, he took us to a forest in Kloof nek, Signal Hill and a tidal pool in Camps Bay. This was done with Christo's brother and one of his groomsmen turning up without our knowledge to carry Christo everywhere, all organized by Nelis. He made us feel so comfortable that our wedding day pictures felt like a breeze. His passion for his work is infectious and we are so grateful.
