Magical Moments

Our wedding day was the highlight of my whole year last year! I got to marry the man of my dreams. It went by so quickly and some parts feel like a blur. The highlights were definitely the decor, dancing and food. Everything came together so nicely and looked exactly how I imagined. This is all thanks to our amazing suppliers. Our dance went very smoothly which is great because we were nervous about forgetting the steps. The food and music was so good that our guests are still talking about it.

The Honeymoon

Yes, we were spoiled with honeymoon money from our wedding so we went to Thailand and Vietnam.

My Special Day

My makeup was done by Nina De Sousa and we went for a natural look. Hair was done by Caroline and Aimee at Prismatic and my hair accessories included sea shell grips and a seashell comb made by my friend Carla Edworthy. Jewellery and accessories were done by Kary Meyer. My dress was made by Franscios Britton design and my shoes were bought at makro as they had to be a specific height (I am almost as tall as hubby) and we happened to find them there of all places! Bouquets were supplied by Petals florist.

The Venue

We got married at Thatchwoods which is a lovely country style venue. The guests stayed at various places within Port Elizabeth but my husband and I stayed at Blue Skies Country house which is also where I got ready on my wedding day.

Wedding Elements

Decor was a sea theme as I am a marine biologist and my husband is a diver. Diving is what brought us together and he even proposed under water on a dive! Flowers for the min table were mostly succulents with some white roses and sea holly in the arrangement. The other tables had a fishbowl in the centre on a mirror and surrounded by candles. The fishbowls were filled with sand, sea shells, sea holly and succulents. The colours were turquoise and light grey so our tables were white with turquoise runners. Seashells were arranged on the runners. I made table number bottles in which guests left us messages for our first anniversary. Guests were given fish shaped cookies as favours (by The Baked Tart) and "for your happy tears" tissue boxes were made for each guest. We had white and turquoise draping with fairy lights around the main table done by Elise Claasen. There were fish nets draping from the ceiling with star fish inside (Elise Claasen) and the lighting was turquoise which was done by KC sound and lighting.

My Groom And His Groomsmen

My husbands suit was supplied by Delbros and his suit was a nice dark grey. He wore a turquoise tie and black shoes. The groomsman wore hired grey pants, white shirts with suspenders and turquoise bow ties.

Beautiful Bridesmaids

The bridesmaid wore turquoise infinity dresses with a ombre chiffon layer on the skirt. The chiffon went from white at the top of the skirt to a dark turquoise at the bottom. These were custom made by Franscios Britton.

My Captured Moments

We had a DIY photo booth and our photographer was Emma Swart who is a friend of ours.

The Wedding Planner

No I planned the whole wedding myself.

Wedding Transport

I arrived in my uncles Peugot RCZ as he walked me down the aisle.

Food & Cake

The catering was done by Thatchwoods and Cake supplied by The Baked Tart. The cake was a sea theme with blues and greys. The cake was a mocha flavour with chocolate Ganache icing. The cake topper was a diver holding a mermaid and we had lemon, red velvet and carrot cupcakes. Guests were spoiled for choice!

Wedding Stationery

We did online invites as we are trying to be as environmentally friendly as possible. We did however supply programmes for the guests which we printed ourselves.

The Reception and Entertainment

Our reception was a lot of fun! We did dance lessons with Natasha Tait and we danced to Everything I Need by Skylar Grey. We had DJs from KC sound and lighting who did a superb job of keeping everyone on the dance floor.
