Ryan and I got married in Pringle Bay on 13 December 2019. Looking back, many moments of our wedding day is quite blurry, however, I can remember exactly what I had felt that entire day. I was about to commit my life to my best friend and the love of my life. I remember feeling so overwhelmed with emotions of happiness and excitement. I cried, not because I was sad, but because I was feeling so grateful and so blessed. My mom walked me down the isle, and she couldn’t stop telling me just how beautiful I looked and how proud she was. My husband had the most beautiful and peaceful smile on his face as he saw me walk down the isle. I couldn’t keep my eyes off him. We worshiped God, and sang songs unto Him, and, committed our marriage, unto Him. After our ceremony we enjoyed a few moments with our guests until the sun had gone down a bit, where we went for our one on one pictures. No posing was needed.. our photographer just told us to keep doing what we’re doing because that was all that was needed to capture those intimate moments. We went back to our reception where we tried to finish off with the formalities as quick as possible, to let the celebrations begin! We kicked off the first dance, with a “lucky draw” and selected two individuals who pre-opened the dance floor for us on a energetic song to create an atmosphere.. our first dance was to “If I ever saw heaven” from Roan Ash. We danced the night away, and when morning came, I woke up to the most beautiful reality.. I am now Mrs. Olivier. ♥️
We decided to stay local during December as we still wanted to spend Christmas with our families, we stayed in Pringle Bay for a month where we took sunset walks, and late afternoon ice cream dates. I stayed on the beach while my husband went crayfishing, and we had braai’s almost every night. We are planning on a overseas trip this year, but we do not have a set destination as of yet - perhaps some ladies could pop us a few suggestions based off their experience? ☺️
My wedding dress was very plain, yet detailed and elegant. My wedding dress was a tight fit dress that flowed out, creating a small train at the back. The breast part of my dress was filled with beaded lace and we created a V shaped look. I also had an open back. The shoes I wore for our ceremony was nude block heels, and I wore white converse all stars at the reception. As my lace was already quite detailed, I decided not to wear any jewelry, except for earrings. This was to keep the eye on my dress. I had looked at thousands of dresses online, but not one dress felt like it was “mine” or “made for me”. I met with Taryn, at Taryn’s Closet in Cape Town, and she designed my DREAM dress after just one brief meeting. That’s when I knew, she was the one making my wedding dress. And it was STUNNING! Lee-Anne van Zyl (Heinz) did my makeup for the wedding and it was absolutely flawless and stayed on throughout the entire evening, despite all the dancing! She’s based in Brackenfell in Cape Town and i would 100% recommend her services to anybody who needs makeup done
Staying healthy leading up to the wedding was quite important to myself and my husband, as we really saw the bigger picture. Our dream was to be able to be comfortable in our own skin the night of the wedding and not be distracted by feeling insecure with bad skin or even just left feeling uncomfortable. We tried our best to remain healthy and look after our bodies, as even the planning process can take a toll on your health. We wanted happy, comfortable and confident.
As a very controlled individual, i took on the task of planning the wedding myself. (With the help of my handsome husband). We had fairy light drapings in the hall, with tables surrounding the dance floor. Each table had rustic baskets with white and pink flowers in it and candles surrounded the flowers. As my husband is a rugby player, we decided to incorporate some of “him” in our wedding, and the table numbers were designed as rugby jerseys. Our seating chart was also printed on a canvas, with rugby jerseys, and each table had a jersey with their names written inside the jersey. We also had our wine and water bottles personalized. Our water bottles had part of our vows to each other on the back, and our wine bottles were labeled as Ryan & Corne. We had many personal touches in our decor and that is what made it so intimate and personal because each person could relate to that being, us.
Our marriage officer was our Pastor. He is the pastor of CRC Falsebay, where both myself and Ryan serve in the church. We were incredibly blessed to have Pastor Shawn Nortje marry us, as he plays a huge role in our lives as our Pastor.
Nicci Scheepers was our photographer. She is incredibly talented and she captures the best and most intimate moments. She is so easy to be around and we felt really comfortable with her from the start.
We used Sarah-Anne Stationary to print our church programs, table numbers, seating charts and place names. She had the best ideas and she was always so willing to incorporate “us” into the designs and really personalize our stationary.
The reception was amazing. The music was amazing. We danced till 3am the following morning. It was absolutely magical. Good music always provides a great atmosphere. This was hands down, the best day of my life and I am so happy i could share my experience with you.
