Our whole wedding circulated around the theme "ONS". We believe that nothing is more important on a relationship & marriage than each other. And we married each other with that promise. We entertained guests with lots of fabulous food, we are both chefs, and even had an interactive Ice cream station where it was made in front of you. We also had craft beers on tap. Definitely a social affair! We also honored my husband's mother with a Mother & Son dance for her dedication and support towards him not allowing the doctors to switch off his life support shortly after birth and giving me the chance to marry my dream come true husband!
We had a short breakaway to Kol-Kol in Botrivier. We had the honeymoon add on and enjoyed a lovely platter, robes and slippers and spent hours unwinding in the hot tub overlooking the Overberg
I had a whole collection of ideas of what I wanted. I knew I didn't want my hair down, but in the end the wind was so rough my veil pulled out my bin so I loosened my hair throughout the night. I wanted a clean look with focus on my eyes. My dress I knew exactly what I wanted and had it designed with the same designer that made my Matric Farewell dress. I struggled to find nice flat shoes
So I did a DIY and bought nude flats and had some lace from my dress attached to it. My jewelry was limited to earrings keeping the focus of my dress to the lace bodice. They were also my something borrowed from my sister which she wore on her wedding day.
We got married in Swellendam. The venue was perfect for our theme and we fell in love with the view and the high ceilings. The venue was Joubertsdal Country Estate on the R60 towards Ashton. Our guests stayed at neighboring farms and also on the estate itself they occupied accommodation.
Situated right at the foot of the Langeberg mountain range, Joubertsdal is 300 hectares of farmland and natural fynbos.
I had absolutely no beauty regime whatsoever. I used my normal face wash daily and just had a facial 2 weeks before. I did however diet for quite some time and lost about 10kg for the wedding.
We made use of a local company, Le Chic and loved everything. Isabel was amazing. She did our flowers and decor incredibly beautiful and the tables were exactly like we imagined! We also rented some Marquee Letters spelling out HUGO that we had on the lawn. We used Lekker Trou.
The groom had his suit jacket custom made with a lining of florals. He is quite artsy! The groom and groomsmen wore leather ties from Wanderlust Leather, also the Ring bearer had a little maroon bow tie from MyBrotie. They all wore nude chinos with white shirts and brown shoes. Their badges and the grooms cufflinks were made by Cards & All all the way from Joburg! We had them couriered
I knew which colour I wanted the dresses but didn't have a design. When I came across Christa Ekermans she sent me a picture of dresses she had made and I loved them. She made the bridesmaids and flower girl dress and they all looked beautiful!
Our marriage officer was Lounette Engelbrecht from the local church in Swellendam. She married us on her wedding anniversary! It was pretty special to us!
We had THE most amazing photographer and videographers. Our photographer was Chantel & May Photography and our videographer was Cynosure Productions. They made us laugh and we loved having them there. We felt at ease and everything went smoothly
We planned everything ourselves, but we did have an on the day co-ordinator which was included in our venue hire! So that was a real help!
We drove ourselves!
We used the local bakery Tredici to make our cake. And our food was prepared by Sout & Peper. Both from Swellendam. They definitely outdid themselves! We were impressed by everything, and its not easy impressing chefs! Our interactive ice-cream station was manned by Hashtag Rollin from Elgin.
Our invites, groomsmen boxes and guest names on the wooden pegs were made by Benmar Impressions. They played on our theme of natural wood.
Our reception was really special. We danced the night away and enjoyed every moment with our friends and family. We had a DJ from Langeberg Weddings. He did all our sound, music and lighting.
