Honestly, our whole Wedding Journey was incredible. I really enjoyed the months of effort and time we put into making our wedding day a representation of who we are and the things we enjoy as a couple. Some of the moments throughout the journey were as incredible as those memories we made on the actual wedding day. From going to the Oakfiled Bridal expo with my mom, to taking dancing lessons with our families, to the cake tasting with my bridal party. We really enjoyed planning every detail of our wedding because it gave us wonderful memories with all our friends and family which we will cherish forever.
I never had an idea of “a perfect wedding” or what it should look like... so I enlisted everyone to get involved by giving opinions and taking a lot of advice; which really helped us ensure that firstly, the day was special for us and secondly, that everyone enjoyed themselves over the weekend and at the actual wedding.
One of my favorite parts of our wedding was that we had a weekend wedding, this meant we got to truly spend time with all of our guests, also, we had a huge pre-wedding celebration at the venue the night before and everyone stayed over which made it feel like our wedding would never end. The guys all got up early to go on a hike with the Groom in the Magaliesburg Mountains and the ladies and some of my closest friends had champagne breakfast with me while we started getting done (ladies - we all can appreciate this process and how long it took... Hence the champagne!)
Three of my favourite memories which I’ll never forget was the look on my dad's face when he first saw me in my dress, or the smile on my moms face when she watched me walk down the isle. Mostly I’ll never forget the look in My Husbands eyes when I saw him for the first time.
We were able to share our written vows In a beautiful Chapel, surrounded by all the people we love and cherish - there wasn’t a dry-eye in sight!
Our reception went by so fast and when we were listening to the speeches people gave at our reception and we were both whispering to ourselves how truly wonderful this had been and we couldn’t feel more blessed to be surround by so many special words by all the people we love. During my dad's speech, he got up and randomly interviewed a few guests at the wedding and asked them to describe things about me when I was a child and I couldn't stop crying and laughing at the same time, it was honestly so special.
My Brother Jozua, who has non-verbal autism and cannot speak even got up to try say a few words. Nobody prompted him and he had never done anything like that before so it was such a heartwarming moment for both of us.
We truly had an unforgettable day! On the Sunday after, we treated our guests to a lovely Breakfast at the venue and they also got to finish off the rest of the cake!
We got married at a Brewery in Magaliesburg! Called "The Blackhorse Estate". My Husband loves their beer especially the "Golden Lager Beer" and because I love him, I agreed that we could get married there, noting that they do have an amazing venue which won my heart too.
One of the most important things for us was that we wanted to have a fun but relaxing wedding, the Blakhorse was perfect for this and ticked all the boxes especially as we were able to make a whole weekend out of it!
