When it just feels right and makes complete sense.
When we feel completely content, loved and our heart and minds are one. When your heartbeat is in sync with the beat of nature with the fragrance that lingers with the soft touches of sweetness and harmony…with the confirmation that everything is just the way it should be! A flower folded, a petal pleated, delicately pampered 'till walking down the aisle to say “I DO”…
Highlights:
Making my way towards my fiancé was a moment I will always cherish and remember forever; I could see he was very emotional when I arrived at the chapel. That exact feeling that I'm unable to express in words. One just knows this is the person that you want to share your entire life with. Shortly after.... followed by the groom fainting during the ceremony, due to his health (unexpectedly).
Another highlight was the blending of all our special people together into the wedding celebration. There were plenty of wonderful ways that we used to incorporate our nearest and dearest into our big day. We involved all, from parents to our siblings and last of all our best friends and wedding crew.
Leaving the best for last; the final countdown until the I DO DAY… I call it the final fling before the ring; my bachelorette party was all about having fun and making memories. The theme was: Rose all day…This worked well with some of my favourite colors being soft and dirty pinks, rose golds and bling used as décor on the day... “Rose” is also my dearest grandmothers name and I loved the fact that the theme chosen by my bridal tribe combined vintage, memories, family and class. These moments will last a lifetime
We have been planning our wedding for quite some time and both of us have been imagining our honeymoon; however we were unfortunate and not able to jet off to paradise just yet! The day after our wedding my husband was booked into hospital for an emergency operation. (Completely unexpected) We had to reschedule our MSC cruise and I guess today I live to tell the tale, rather interesting! My groom literary fainted while the pastor was preaching - I thought it was heat stroke, others thought it was shock or low blood sugar and in the end it was his health. We had to start our married life with 2-12 months of full recovery. Still staying positive as I love this man with all my heart.
I was going for the romantic wedding look inspired by simplicity, a love of neutrals, and of course, romance! Every little detail was soft and dreamy and oh so perfect.
Hair and make-up:
Summer wedding hair is all about loose flowing waves and effortlessly elegant curls creating a soft and feminine look!
Due to my fair skin; I went for a natural make-up look with soft pink lip gloss and smoky eyes.

Finding the dress:
I completely get it; sometimes shopping for the perfect fairy-tale wedding dress can be completely overwhelming! With so many gorgeous options, picking the wedding dress can seem harder than actually choosing your groom. My bestie (maid of honor) assisted me by narrowing down the search by surprising me with a wedding expo, where I fitted many gowns and found the PERFECT FIT! (My something new) My Morilee dress designed by my fairy godmother, Madeline Gardner! I slipped right into a curve-hugging fit & flare or better known, a mermaid cut dress that is slim along the hips and thighs and flared below the knees. Mermaid styles are normally a bolder look, especially with the gorgeous scalloped train. The fit and flare dress I wore exudes a more subtle beauty with embroidered lace appliqués and a sweetheart neckline.
Tradition:
- "Something new" being my dress :-)
- My wedding shoes were my traditional "something old": Nude dance shoes, rather comfortable.
- My perfume was my "something blue" : chosen by the groom X
- Something borrowed was my pearl bracelet; this I got from my mother-in-law.
In the heart of the Bushveld, surrounded by Tamboti trees, beautiful gardens and rippling waterstreams, lies Fatherland Estate on the banks of Blaauwbankdam – 16 km past Brits, on Dikhololo road.
The chapel provides a unique atmosphere with wooden pews and candles. A flint glass window in the form of a cross serves as focus point. The balcony is the ideal place for unforgettable photos.
A winding path takes you to the reception hall where slate tiles, a thatched roof and wooden window-frames create an earthy warm atmosphere. Guests can enjoy drinks at the bar on the open deck, watching the abundant bird life on the dam that surrounds the venue.
The wedding couple can spend the night in the five star quality honeymoon suite, hidden among indigenous trees with their own private veranda overlooking the dam.
Fatherland is the ideal venue to host any wedding!
Nicky is an absolute life saver and she definitely made our day that much better...
