The ceremony itself was the highlight - promising in front of God our family and friends to always love each other, was the best moment of my life!
We went to Phuket, Thailand and it was everything we ever dreamed it could be! We had such a lot of fun!
Since I can remember I wanted to look like a princess. My friend and fashion designer, Hugo Swanepoel, from the Amos lable in Cape Town made me the ultimate princess dress. My hair and makeup was done by the talented Anne-Mart Hair and Makeup and my earrings and our wedding rings was made by Dalene Bruwer in Worcester. I wore a pair of rose gold stilettos and a hair pin from Lovisa. All in all the look came together perfectly and I felt like a princess fit to marry my Prince Charming.
We got married in the court yard of the historic Drostdy building in Worcester, Western Cape. We are both teachers at Drostdy Technical High School and the children and staff transformed the court yard into resembling an Italian Villa with lights and flowers. It was pure magic.
The Drostdy, which was recently refurbished to award-winning standards, is a five star hotel with 48 exceptionally beautiful rooms.
I hired all the decor at Function Hire 4U in Kuilsriver. Our theme was navy, light pink and rose gold. I organised the whole wedding myself without the help of a co-ordinater so I decided every single detail. My one friend did my flowers and about 20 children and one of my colleagues set the tables. The wind was terrible and really gave them a hard time, so the candles are still as good as new, but the wedding was definitely magazine beautiful.

The groom wore a navy three piece suit from Mr. Suit Hire with a white shirt, light pink tie and rose gold tie pin. The groomsmen wore navy pants with a white shirt, navy waistcoat and navy tie. They looked super handsome, but my husband outshone everyone.
My bridesmaids wore long navy pleated skirts with light pink blouses with a romantic off the shoulder look. Their hair was up as mine was down and they looked absolutely stunning. Their outfits were also designed by Hugo Swanepoel from Amos who did my dress.
Dewald from Dewald Kirsten Photography took our wedding photos and did a superb job. The wind was terrible and he managed to get pictures where you cannot even tell that there was any wind. We are more than happy.
We didn't have a planner except for me. ;-) I planned and organised everything and had a friend and colleague who put everything together on the day.
Our wedding car was my dad's 1969 Mercedes - a beautiful cream veteran with white ribbon.
Our catering was done done by Hartskombuis, a company in Worcester. Our wedding cake was baked by one of our 15 year old learners - a previous participant in Koekedoortjie. She was amazing!
I designed all our stationary myself and had it printed at ProPic, a company in town owned by Abri Bothma.
Oh goodness, we didn't take dance lessons and opted for a very slow song so that we could only sway. The reception was magical under all the fairy lights and we had such a great time with our guests.
