Sharing the day with friends & family - perfect weather & great company! Could not have asked for better support in the form of my bridesmaids! My Mom & my husband are the two important people that made my day perfect by being the people that they are.
Walking down the isle & knowing I will be spending the rest of my life with the man of my dreams - nothing else mattered!
Sharing the day with friends & family - this is all I needed to make the day perfect!
Knowing that I had superb bridesmaids, a wonderful venue & all the loving & support made me very excited!
Having done most of the planning & decor & stationary ourselves, it was great to see all the items & ideas coming & working together.
However, the highlight of my day was my gorgeous Mom walking me down the isle & seeing the man of my dreams standing upfront - knowing that we will be spending the rest of our lives together!
Yes, we went to Ambre Resort & Spa in Mauritius for a week - it was a bif expensive, as we paid for the whole wedding & the honeymoon ourselves - but it was worthwhile!
White sandy beaches, friendly staff, great food & me & hubby all day long on the beach - sleeping, reading, snorkeling, laughing & chatting - just enjoying each others company & friendship!
I wanted to have a classic romantic look throughout the wedding - my husband, bridesmaids & I all worked together to achieve the exact look that would reflect both my & my husband’s personality - hence burgundy & charcoal were chosen as our colour scheme - warm & romantic, yet stylish & classic!
Hair & make-up were kept as natural as possible, as the exquisite back of my dress had to be noticed & I dis not want to look a whole lot different than I normally do. Hair & make-up of myself, my two bridesmaids & the mothers of both me & my husband was done by Profile Beauty.
My dress was made by Something You Bridal Wear & was elegant to suit the theme of the wedding, but also to suit my body - it was a very comfortable dress.
I wore nude ALDO shoes, SissyBoy underwear, a Lovisa hair clip, Swarovski earrings & Calvin Klein Women perfume.
We got married at Blackhorse Brewery in Magaliesburg - perfect setting for our perfect wedding! Wonderful staff & a very unique venue!
We & our parents slept at the venue, guests could choose any of the surrounding guest houses, lodges, hotels to stay at - such as Magaliesburg Manor, Askari, Mount Grace.
I did nothing out of the ordinary, just brushed my teeth & used teeth whitening mouthwash, no tanning & no changing my skincare products (Issabella Garcia & Garnier). I went to cut my hair about two weeks before the wedding (I dis not dye it) & I used Schwarzkopf shampoo & leave in conditioner. Nails were done by Sorbet Lifestyle Crossing. I kept fit by ensuring I went to the gym at least 5 times a week, no dieting (but of the 5 times there was 2 sessions of pilates each week) - just ate healthy, I still enjoyed my carbs & Burger King.
We were fortunate enough to have the venue provide decor items (if they had what you wanted & required), as well as fairy lights on the roof of the venue. We bought our own fairy lights for the tables, made our own menus, table placement cards & thank you notes.
Flowers were purchased from Flower Center at the Multiflora Flower Market & my bridesmaid did my flowers arrangements - eucalyptus, red roses, red carnations, red daisies. This saved us a lot of money as well.
The DJ was from Jazze Productions & a recommended service provider of the venue.
The groom wore a charcoal suit, white shirt & burgundy tie. The groomsmen wore charcoal pants, white shirts & burgundy ties. The suite, shirt & pants were tailor made by RaphaelM in Houghton Estate.
Ties were purchased at Twill, shoes were purchased at ALDO.
We could not find dresses in burgundy that suited both bridesmaids - however the husband had a trip to America & he got the perfect “skater” dresses (in burgundy) - simple, yet elegant and the bridesmaids can wear it again.
Each bridesmaid also wore a pair of black shoes that she felt most comfortable in.
Algernon van Schalkwyk - a family member & a pastor!
Joalet Reyneke Photography was the perfect decision - she made us feel comfortable & relaxed, she captured in the spur of the moment photos, but she also focused on small details - her photos are romantic & classic & a cut above the rest!
We purchased a Canon Selphy Printer & requested guests to download the app, print a selfie that they took at the wedding & to then write a personal message on the back of the photo - no need for a photo booth!
No, only my husband, my bridesmaids & I arranged & decided on everything. The venue also provided a wedding co-ordinator on the day of the wedding.
There was no transport required, the chapel & the rooms that both my husband & I got ready in were within walking distance from the chapel & venue.
Food was prepared by the chef at the venue & special arrangements were made for guests with allergies & for religious purposes as well. We enjoyed a harvest table for canapés, gnocchi for starters, beef medallions for mains & brownies, ice cream & coolies for dessert.
We did not have a wedding cake, only chocolate cupcakes with a caramel filling & a lovely burgundy icing - this was made by Waterfall Bakery by a lady named Telishia (my husband does not eat sweet things, but he devoured this cupcake).
My husband & I designed & printed our own stationary - we saved quite a lot of money by doing this.
Urban Strings played a lovely collection of music when guests were arriving at the chapel, the perfect music for walking down the isle & during canapés. Music was played by Jazze Productions & the DJ was great in playing the right kind of music at the right time for the guests.
As we entered we started our first dance on You are the Reason (Callum Scott & Leona Lewis) and the first dance was perfect, thanks to the assistance of Fred Astaire (Wilropark).
Our guests danced well into the night & it was a great & lively atmosphere.
