How did your love story begin?

Stephan Grobler was my crush when I was in grade 9 - he was in Matric.
Only a innocent crush...
Both him and myself went through a few relationships in those next 4 years. Finally I built the courage to add him On Facebook...
Within 10 min of my request he msg me to ask if I want to to chat.... Nevertheless, we got to meet each other and hit it off instantly.. From a innocent crush to a soulmate match.. Met in 2014, and got engaged 2017.
Can't wait to be called is bride/wife

Tell us all about the proposal.

Stephan is not a person to keep secrets or surprises....
On the 22nd Dec 2017 he said I should not plan anything the next day and that I should be up and ready at 4am the next morning - suggested I dress pretty.... Obviously my mind was overworking trying to figure out what he has in store for me... Thought it could be a early Christmas gift....
Got to a lodge at 5am in the morning... Air-balloon ride waited for us.... That was a awesome experience... And just before we landed en proposed ❤️

Magical Moments

Most memorable moment was definitely when my Husband Grandparents where our ring bearers. Grandmother was so eager for us to get married, she stood up to give us the rings before it was due... We had to pause and explain... Not yet ouma..
The chapel was full of laughter and tears of how sweet that moment was.

The Honeymoon

Unfortunately no honeymoon straight afterwards...
I had to write a exam paper for my Bcom Accounting degree the Monday after the wedding...

We did receive a special gift from my in-laws for a week get away @ Crystal Springs Mpumalanga in Dec 2019.

My Husband and I are still saving up some money for a great getaway honeymoon for 2020.

Wedding Gallery

My Special Day

Well to start off, the colour scheme was Burgundy, gold and Navy...
The reason for these colours, is that it has dark, warm, loving and romantic essence to it. I was always a big fan of dark colours especially burgundy.

Being a accountant of course, I do not like to be in debt or make loans... We had saved up all our money before the wedding day and paid all in full... Making it much easier and stress free after the wedding.

So you can imagine that I tried to go the cheapest routes where ever I could find.. Because at the end of the day... It is all about "getting married" and not on how expensive you can go.

Most of the decor we made ourselves.
On the wedding day I had a team of family members and friends that got down and dirty by helping to set up the wedding.

Regards to my dress, shoes and lingerie.. ... No designer labels or brands... Just cheapies that looked nice and fit comfortably.. A few alterations on the dress was made by a close friend and family members and " New Romantics Bridal Couture"

I did not fixate on jewellery because of all the beads and details on the dress itself. It would have been to "much" in my opinion. I did receive a beautiful gold bracelet from my maid of honor that was passed on to her from her grandmother. It was such a great honor for her even to consider to give to me. I also received "something blue" from my sister in laws.. A small stud earing.. You will see in my right ear...

My hair was beautifully done by my sister Natasha van Wyk that is a full time hair dresser...the look we gone for was natural curls and natural design..

Makeup was proudly done by myself :)
(I didn't see the need to pay so much for makeup for one person, for one day) practice made perfect.

So all in all... This was a pretty hands on wedding.

The Venue

Wedding venue was Makiti wedding function venue in Krugerdorp.
Most of the guest stayed at Makiti Accommodation.

My Bridal Beauty Regime

Not much of a beauty regime...

Forced myself not to mess with my face and skin.....leaving those pimples to go away by itself..

Obviously jogging a few days here and there (whenever we where in the mood to do so)

But the worst part... A week before the wedding, hubby and I went on a juice diet... Just to shake of a few kg and water... And get that skin "glowing"

A few teath whitening products was used for this coffee lover...

Wedding Elements

Yet again... Not much to discuss here... Most of these elements was done ourselves..

Flowers was done by Makiti.
Few decor items was prizes received from a "wedding hunt" competition.

Center pieces & under plates was from "Faded Grace" @ venue Nouveau.
Most helpful, generous and just wonderful people and service.

Table cloths was hired at "Linen hire Solutions" owner Jennifer was the sweetest lady ever... She even made brand spanking new table cloths for us to a next to nothing hire rate... Trust me...BEST PRICES an SERVICE

Sequins table runners and table cloth was made by "probably soon to be mother in-law". To hire these items would have cost more or less the same as to making them.

Makiti already had a lot of fairy lights everywhere.. From the gardens to the reception.. To emphasize this... I added more fairy light to our center pieces. Giving that romantic feeling..

Glassware on our center pieces I have bought from Trans Natal glass Factory in Krugerdorp.

The main reason for choosing Makiti as our venue was that the reception they have, had pillar and fairy lights wrap around them. Prefect for hanging thing down the pillar... The one element that was a MUST was the glass hanging balls.. I couldn't see our wedding without them.

My Groom And His Groomsmen

Suit rentals are so expensive these days...and that than just to rent..

Suits where bought at the plaza :) and few alterations where done.

My opinion.. They all looked handsome.

Beautiful Bridesmaids

The ladies wore a long dress made out of Navy satin and chiffon.

The dress style was chosen to fit all body types and shapes... and to make sure that all the ladies was comfy in what they where wearing.

The dress was like a wrap dress with a slit on the side.

Dresses was made by one of our Bridesmaids trusted friend "Gerda Lamprecht" in the East Rand

Marriage Officer

Gustav Roos

My Captured Moments

We had 2 photographers for the day.
Maud Small - Sweet Memories Photorgraphy
Deon van Wyk - Deon van Wyk Photography

We used Maud Small (or Antoinette) for many years so far... it all started with my Matric farewell... We got the referral from my husband - he used to date Antoinette daughter many years ago.. Antoinette in my opinion is the best... she captures moments that we usually miss... she is very passionate in what she does and always comes with the best vibes and moods...she makes you feel like a true model when she does her work... She is a photographer I will ALWAYS refer people to.

Deon van Wyk is a very professional and serious photographer, with great results. He was one of our Prizes in the "Wedding Hunt" competition.

We had a Photo booth done by RP media (another prize from the Wedding hunt competition) I do recommend a photo booth from these guys... this was much fun entertainment and much fun photos.

The Wedding Planner

Nope,

Just family and friends.

Wedding Transport

Wedding transport was a 1977 Corvette Stingray.
A Classic car I was raised to love.

This is my father pride possession.
He had this car for so many years, I stopped counting...

This was in a sense a very sentimental car... this was the car we used for my Matric farewell...
Where me and my Husband made our relationship official.

Food & Cake

Food was done by Makiti,

we had a traditional buffet style menu. the old classic food options ... and most yummy as well.

Wedding cake in our opinion was a waist... being to a few weddings we notice that the cake adds up not being used or eaten.... so we went for a table full of sweet treats...cupcakes, doughnuts, koeksisters, chocolate balls, coconut squares, fruits, marshmallows , chocolate fountain , ice cream... and so the list goes on...(PS - nothing was left....NOTHING)

Before entering the reception we had a patio snack table set up done by my Mother in law and her sister.
Cheese, crackers, cheese, crackers.... more cheese and more crackers :) with a few small bite size snacks like samosas and quiches.... once again there was a lot of snacks... and nothing left at the end of the day.

Wedding Stationery

Mother and Myself...

once again... we where very hands on

The Reception and Entertainment

Before entering the reception - on the patio, we had a live performance by my Sister Husband - Martin van Wyk.
Once man show... whilst everyone was enjoying their snacks, they also had the entertainment of His outstanding performance. It was a honor to have him play for us. We know he worked so hard in perfecting his songs months prior to the wedding. His hard worked showed off.

My Husband and I did go for a few dance lessons @ Simply Social Dancing. Nicola our dance instructor was the best, she came up with awesome move for us to do...almost looking like a pro... favorite part of our dance routines is most definitely all the dips and turns...showcasing the dress beautify.

DJ was included in the Makiti package.
