The best moments for me were walking down the isle towards my husband, putting the ring on his finger, our first dance and taking photographs on the bridge over Nelson Mandela Drive. It was so windy and it just made it so much fun.
We didn't go on a honeymoon.
I went for a very modern look, I think. I still had a princess dress but the top was far from traditional with a v in the back and front. My hair was in a beautiful up-style. I also put my grandmother's broach in my hair. I wore Nike sneakers with my dress, I've never been one to wear heels. My makeup was very natural, focusing on the eyes. I wore my great grandmother's earrings and my grandmothers wedding ring.
We got married at Roodebloem Photography Studio in Woodstock. It was so different and clean and crisp for us to really make it our own.
I only had my nails done. Other than that, I took care of my hair and skin with treatments that I had at home. I tried to eat healthy but I did cave many times, definitely wasn't the gyming type. One thing I stuck to all the way was water and that really helped to give my skin that extra glow.
We chose Roodebloem Studios because it was all white and very simple inside. When it came to decor, we took the same approach. We had light white flowers with small candles and everything was white.
The groom and groomsmen wore tuxedo's hired from Gangarams in Umhlanga, Durban. Such an exquisite shop with excellent service.
My bridesmaids got their dresses from Truworths. It was absolutely stunning!
Our marriage officer was Pastor Chetty from Steenberg. My mother was the flower girl in his wedding many years ago so it was a family friend and very fitting.
Our photographer is from Amelia Maria Photography and she was exceptional. She captured every single moment, didn't miss a thing and made us look amazing. She put in such an effort which is what you're looking for when planning a wedding. Our videographer was Imaad Griffiths, he is extremely talented and you can tell by watching any one of his videos. He also shot our engagement video.
No, we didn't have a planner.
I actually ubered to our wedding, it was the coolest experience and a real money-saver.
We had fast food at our wedding. We had McDonald's, Aneesas, Bin Rashied, ribs, Chicken Licken and KFC and more. It was what we really wanted and something everyone enjoys. It was a hit with the guests. We had a marble cake, absolutely breath-taking. It was from Cake On Top.
My cousin started her own design company called the Pencilbox so we were very lucky to have all our stationary designed free of charge. It was so stunning and classic.
We didn't take dance lessons, we just winged it and we did the dance for ourselves, to have a special moment together, not to impress any of the guests with our moves. It was perfect. My mother took care of the sound and lighting along with many other things so we are very very grateful.
