For me it started even before the wedding. We got engaged at my parents home with just the 4 of us there. Marshand (my husband) went onto one knee while my mother and father watched from the kitchen. This after they have been living in Swellendam for 8 years and I have not seen that much of them.
The wedding was almost planned as a surprised wedding. Everything was organised for me, because my family knew how easily I get stressed.
The perfection of my day started in September 2018 and is still ongoing. Our wedding toppers were two "Meerkat" that were dressed for the occasion. The wind played its part and just after we said our "I do's" - the kite surfers took to the sky over Bloubergstrand for the world kite surfing championships. How insanely blessed can one girl be that even God decided on that day to remind us of His tender mercies. We shared our first communion in front of or guests and Marshand broke the cup of Yeshua on the beach - sealing our agreement. We only selected 30 guests to join us and at 23h00 we went into the garden at Dolphin Beach Hotel and ate our Magnum ice creams and lit starlight's to celebrate. Our wedding day was a celebration and every person who joined us - contributed to our day. We are blessed, because we are loved and we are consecrated into the family tree of LOVE.
We have not been on honeymoon yet, because my husband started a new job and it was not the right time. We are planning this for later in the year.
Dress - Henja Scaap
Makeup/Hair - Millie Wilson
I am by no means a traditional bride and knew I wanted something different. I had one designer in mind to make my dress and that was Henja. He understood my vision and it all came together perfectly. I only went to Gauteng once to be measured and I saw my dress for the first time 2 days before my wedding. Some alterations were necessary but it was perfect.
My hair was down and windswept because that is what Marshand loves with only a hair clip and earrings that matched my tanzanite engagement ring.
I got some slip on shoes and I never felt more beautiful.
My makeup and hair was totally understated, but perfection. I will not change one single thing of our wedding day.

Our wedding was held at the Dolphin Beach Hotel in Bloubergstrand and the dinner was served at the Blowfish restaurant inside the hotel. Some of the guests stayed over in the hotel and loved it.
The food was just stunning - because we didn't want a formal plated dinner or table settings or anything traditional - we opted for 12 different canape's instead. We partied and ate the night away in the most spectacular venue with the pride of Cape Town - Table Mountain on full display.
We got engaged in September 2018 and I only found out that we will be getting married on 26 January 2019, in October 2018. This means that not a lot of pre-wedding treatments happened - but we are more than making up for that now that we are married.
Probably one of the best things from our wedding is the budget - we spent a total of R 33,000 on a wedding for 30 people (including my dress). The flowers were all of R 90.00 because it was Fynbos bought from Pick n Pay. The wedding cake was 6 different cheeses and our cake toppers were two wooden 'Meerkats' that looked the part perfectly. We wanted to make sure that we don't waste anything and tried to keep costs down and most of our things were handmade by our guests. Everybody was involved which made the celebration even better. Our's was a totally green wedding, with no wastes, no additional lights, nothing that can impact on the environment. Even the kite surfers made part of our decor - and they came for free. How blessed can one girl be??
My husband looked handsome in his blue waste coat and pants, with white shirt. His accessories were all tan in colour and it was purchased from Woolworths.
Because we wanted a "green" wedding, we asked the guests to dress in "Shades of White", and to please not spend money on special outfits for the day. I asked my "Family of honour" to dress differently. Yes, we didn't have a groomsman, maid of honour and a flower girl - we had a "Family of Honour" so the Maid of Honour, Groomsman and Flower girl is one family that is just so dear to us. They dressed in blue to look different from the rest but they were also asked to not buy new clothes - I wanted them to wear what they were comfortable in. No money was wasted on things with little to no impact on the outcome or success of the day.

I walked from my hotel room to the beach and it was magical - no transport needed.
The canape's were prepared by the Blowfish Restaurant inside the Dolphin beach hotel. The presentation and quality of the food was exceptional. The venue cannot be beaten with the Conservatory looking out onto Table Mountain.
The cheeses for the wedding cake were bought from Mooiplaas in Centurion and the layout and presentation was done by Stefan du Plessis and Quintin Scopetti - my brothers.

No stationery was created because we wanted a "green" wedding. All our invites were electronically done by Quintin Scopetti - my brother in law. He went as far as to start a '10 day count down' of our memories, each captured in a photo which was sent out on our wedding Whatsapp group daily. Everybody was so involved in the complete process.
Again, a family affair - my brother and his partner compiled a playlist for our wedding with all our favorite songs. The song that I walked onto the beach was "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran and Andrea Bochelli and it was a tearful affair for everybody. Our first dance was on Roan Ash's - If I ever saw heaven and that is how my husband and I feel about each other after 4 years of dating.
