Let's be honest getting married is tough , especially if you arrange your wedding yourself without a wedding planner. Myself and my husband decided that we want to keep costs to a minimum but still make our wedding a party to remember. We decided that laatson onthale in Porterville is the perfect destination as we wanted everyone to stay over and make it a weekend away for our guests. Majority of our family and friends stayed over. The Friday before we lit all the fires and just socialized with our guests as we knew that our wedding day will be filled with photos and highlights and we wouldn't be able to spend time with everyone on the night of our wedding. My bridesmaids and myself left early to go sleep in the local hotel where we where going to get ready for the big day. Finally our big day arrived and everything including the weather was perfect for our outside wedding. Everyone said that it will be a emotional time and that I was going to cry but as soon as I walked down the aisle and locked eyes with Jan-Paul , a calmness took over my mind , body and soul.Right there I knew that he was my soul mate and that I made the right decision to marry him. The song I walked in on was pre-recorded and sang by myself as a special gift to my soon to be husband.Our ceremony was perfect , the priest prepared a piece from John and it fitted our relationship perfectly. After signing the register and making it official we set out to a beautiful farm setting with a waterfall to take our photos while we entertained our guests by opening the bar complimented by a bread and cheese table. About an hour later we returned to our guests . One of the moments that really stood out to me was when our master of ceremonies introduced us for the first time as Mnr & Mrs Roux. Everything became a reality to me then and I couldn't be happier. Our decor was simplistic , beautiful and romantic featuring protea flowers , dessert roses and fairy lights. Our carrot cake was delicious and our guests received cupcakes in 4 different flavours chocolate , lemon, carrot and red velvet to ensure that everyone was able to eat their preferred flavour. Our Dj was incredible and our guests where able to give requests for songs. This ensured that everyone was out on the dance floor . Our photographer was amazing and ensured that all our perfect memories was caught on camera. Our friends are still talking about our wedding. Some say that it was the most fun and social wedding that they have ever had. And some just call it a "lekker kuier" wedding.

Every girl dreams about the perfect wedding dress and fairytale look. Being a farm girl my idea of a wedding was always a more elegant but natural look. I used Marié Malherbe and her team to cover my Photos , make up and hair , they use only the best brands and used Mac for my make up. My hairstyle was a elegant and done in a low upstyle to compliment the lace on my dress. My earings was a special gift from my mom and a pearl bracelet was the perfect gift from my soon to be husband. My rose gold wedges was ordered through miss black and ensured that my feet was happy all the way through our big day and night. For my dress and my veil I went to the best . Bridal allure service was outstanding , when I first saw my dress it was too small but I commited to a healthy lifestyle and lost the weight. So much that they had to make it smaller a week before the wedding. My whole look was perfect , if I had to do it all again there is nothing that I would want to change

We wanted a more casual Farm wedding and after looking at 8 venues we decided to get married in Porterville at Laatson onthale.
My family is mostly from the free-state so we needed a venue where everyone can stay over. Our guest stayed at some of the guesthouses in town but mainly at the self catering units on the venue and at the 22waterfalls camp site.
Being a spa manager my beauty regimen is very important to me. I use only the best brands , Thalgo on my skin . Thalgo uses marine intelligence which uses different forms of algae to detox the skin internally and externally. I had a Silicium facial two weeks prior and my soon to be hubby at the time spoiled me for a spa day a week before the wedding to destress and relax. We had a full body massage manicure and pedicure.
My bridesmaids gifted me a spraytan which I did the thursday before my wedding.
The day of my wedding I took a nice warm bath washed my hair and gave myself a mini facial to ensure my skin was glowing and radiant . I used Coco bacci to treat my teeth and was finally ready for my hair and make up. My look was ended off with a sweet scent of Golce and Gobana Light blue perfume.
The venue itself was beautiful . We used round tables with Hessian runners . My dad handmade all my wooden crates for my flowers and my underplates. The underates was branded with Our initials and the date of our wedding. This was also our gifts to our guests to take home. My flowers where simplistic but beautiful. My three main elements was protea , desert roses and wood. To top this all off we added fairy lights on every flower box and in the roof on our venue and dance floor. Outside our venue we added candle light and floating candles to create the perfect romantic setting for our wedding
Jan-paul choose a blue tux and I must say he looked pretty damn good in it. He rented it from Mr Suit hire in Bellville. He complimented it with a white collared shirt , striped tie , utopia shoes and a armani watch.
His groomsmen looked very stylish in their Chinos , white shirts and braces(kruisbande)
I had three bridesmaids. Due to the champgane colour of my dress I thought it well to pair the groomsmen to fit in with my dress and the girls to fit in with Jp tux. They looked beautiful in their royal blue long evening gowns and their hair and make up was done by Marié Malherbe and her team.
After shopping for days and not finding a dress to fit all three their body types , as a last resort we where off to China town. And guess what we found the perfect dresses in all their sizes and it was the perfect colour to go with Jp's suit.

Our Food was made by Laatson onthale and our wedding cake and cupcakes where made by Christina's Cakes
We decided to create our very own "roux stories" news paper for our guests. I designed it myself and a close friend helped to finalize it on coral draw. It included our love story , a thank you note to our families , our food menu , a couples questionnaire and our thank you list.
Everyone loved the idea as it was a very special gift and explained our story
Our reception was Magical. Filled with fairy lights and beautiful music it was the perfect night. We didn't have a live band but our DJ was incredible.
We handled all the formalities and speeches quickly then opened the dance floor with "take my hand" and started the party from there.
Everyone danced , laughed ate and ate some more , the food was so delicious and some of our guests even went back for seconds.
It was a magical night , definitely one that I will cherish and remember
