My veil flew up as I entered the chapel, one serious highlight of my day - as if God blew his blessing over my head after which my husband's vows blew me away. The way God used our wedding day to touch the hearts of my family and friends in many different ways was the ultimate, and the overwhelming feeling of unitedness amongst everybody we love. It was my dream wedding and more.
I call it Garden Route hopping. I've lived in Port Elizabeth my whole life, and studied in Stellenbosch for 5 years now and before the honeymoon I've never been to any of the honeymoon destinations. Our first stop was the day after the wedding when we joined our family for a quick goodbye in 'Eerste Rivier' (we could only book in at our room in Tsitsikamma later the day- and we love spending time with family), whereafter we visited Knysna Forest Valley Cottages, Haroldsbay Resort and then drove back all the way to Plett and stayed at the Formosa Resort. On our way home we made a pit stop in Wilderniss for massages. It was the best holiday of my enire life, and the Garden Route is absolutely amazing.
My dress was Enzoani, which I dreamed of having but never thought I actually would. There was a balls up with the beading of the dress, since I bought it without any beading. My aunt came to the rescue of the dress, and helped me find a lady to help me fix it - thank you Sharifa & Tannie Zelda! Hair - I initially had a complete different look planned for the wedding, and a week before I decided to cut and colour it. I needed a change which Maritza did a stunning job at from The Boredroom in Stellenbosch. The styling was done by Desne from Kareedouw. Make-up was done by one of my best friends'and bridesmaid, Lure Dicker Make- Up Artist. Shoe's was inspired by the theme of the wedding which was champagne sparkle. Jewellery was simple, since i'm not a jewel kind of girl. I love pearly earrings, and 'pearl' in the meaning of my name- so I thought I'd wear the biggest pearl earrings I could find.
In 2005, a new bridal collection emerged and quickly rose to compete with top brands by merging traditional and modern European styles into exquisitely hand crafted gowns.
The wedding was at Inniebos Wedding Venue in Kareedouw, which was absolutely fabulous and everything I could ever dream of. There was accomodation available at the venue, which goes by Assegaaibosch Country Lodge.
Leading up to the wedding I endured an extremely stressfull time, due to a horrible teaching prac I completed in Stellenbosch. I tried my best to uphold by fitness programme, however could only do so until about 6 weeks before the wedding when I had to focus on teaching prac only to ensure I would pass. I taught spinning classes and did the BBG workouts from Kayla Itsines guides. The Beauty Products I used was all from NuSkin, which I am a proud distribitor of. I made use of their Polishing Peel, Epoch Glacial Marine Mud Mask and Ap24 Whitening Fluoride Toothpaste.
My dècor & flowers was done by Droom Dekor owned by Pricilla Potgieter from Uitenhage Port Elizabeth.
The décor was theme was champagne sequins with white roses and rosegold speckled vases, as well as cilinder vases with pebbes and floating candles. We used a variety of crystal glass vases for gladiolas & stocks, gold antique maxine candle holders with pillar candles and stemmed tealight votives with floating candles. We used mirror boxes for the flowers, and gold cutlery.
Pricilla was amazing, and stood by me as if she's known me forever. She dried my tears, kept me calm and motivated me to push through all the negative vibes I endured with through the planning of the wedding. To top it all off, she got pink lipstick off my dress moments before I had to enter the chapel, and enjoyed the evening with us like a pro.
The groom's clothes was a mixture of Markhams and Country Road V&A Waterfront, and the leather bow tie and cross-bands was provided by Masch Leathers. The groomsmen clothes were Mr. Price, and bow ties by Masch Leathers.
The bridesmaids dresses were china shop dresses of Champagne sequins, with home-made skirts done by either the mother of the bride or the mother of the bridesmaids themselves. Also, very coincidentally all the bridesmaids wore pearly earrings which we never agreed on. It was perfect, since this was what I would have decided for them anyway. I just never thought about it, yet they figured it out for themselves.
We were lucky and fortunate to have my dad, Albert Curtain from Albert Curtain Attorneys & Conveyancers in Uitenhage Port Elizabeth do our marriage certificate.
The photographer was Leze Hurter, and videographer was Dirk Moggee both from Port Elizabeth. They were absolutely fabulous and super fun, as well as amazing at taking the most beautifull shots. They are absolutely passionate about their work.
Pricilla Potgieter, the owner of Droom Dekor in Uitenhage Port Elizabeth did the coordination on the day, and did the best job I could imagine.
Since the accomodation and wedding venue was at the same location, no transport was neccesary. However, my dad wanted me to have something so we used the tractor from Inniebos Wedding Venue in Kareedouw.
The food was prepared by the wedding venue themselves, Inniebos Wedding Venue in Kareedouw, as well as the pre-snacks and drinks.
The stationary was part the décor quote we got from Droom Dekor, thus Pricilla was incharge of this. It was super stylish, and suited the champagne theme.
We had a DJ, Colin Nance from Port Elizabeth. Best DJ in town, and can really read the crowd.
