I think my first memorable moment for me on the day, was when my 77 year old grandfather (who walked me down the aisle), saw me for the first time. He just burst into tears and was so emotional, all he could whisper was "you're so beautiful" as he held me. After that, things became so real for me after that moment. I had such a panic attack walking down the aisle but when I reached my husband and looked into his eyes, all I saw was pride and love. He too whispered to me, "you're so beautiful", and that gave me strength, as he took my hands and I thought to myself "I can do this"!
We went to the Cannonier Beachcomber Resort in Mauritius for our honeymoon. It was incredible! Hot sun, warm water and a slight breeze everyday. We hired bikes and went on a ride into town, we snorkelled, water skiied, went paddle boating and kayaking. We did a tour from the North right down to the South of Mauritius. We toured markets and had cocktails by the pool. It was a once in a lifetime experience.
For my wedding look, I wanted to feel like a princess. I got my wedding dress from Crystals and Creme. My shoes were "borrowed", white diamante sandals. Jewlery and accessories I got from Lovisa and my something "blue" were the little blue satin roses on my garter. My hair was done by my hairdresser of 8 years, Hugo Bornman of Dorp Street Studio in Stellenbosch and my make up was done by my friend of 18 years, Nicci Knights of Weddings by Nicolette.
We got married at Vredenheim Wine Estate in Stellenbosch. They have two guesthouses on the farm so my husband and I stayed the night in the honeymoon suite which was gorgeous!
The week before the wedding I started my beauty prep. I had my waxing done by Sorbet and tan done by Bronze Me. The day before the wedding, my bridesmaids and myself went to Majeka House Spa in Stellenbosch where we all had full body massages, manicures and pedicures.
I got a majority of my decor from JNJ Hire in Brackenfell. Luckily for me, the venue was so beautiful I didn't have to do too much decor. My flowers were done by Flowers for Africa in retreat. Candles were bought from The Candle Factory also in Retreat.
My groom got his suit from Zara and my great aunt made his waist jacket and ties.
I bought my bridesmaids dresses from Airydress which was a bit of a gamble as I bought them online according to my bridesmaids measurements. Luckily all 3 fitted perfectly and didn't need any alterations.
My marriage officer was the dad of one of my bridesmaids, Paul Johnson, who is also like a father to me.
My friend of 9 years captured our special day. She is also voted one of SA's top wedding photographers- Stephanie Norman Photography.
Our food was prepared by the venue and Leanne of Crumbs and Frosting made our cake. It was absolutely delicious and she also made it with buttercream frosting for me and white chocolate ganache for my husband.
We used Dean from DJ Dean who was absolutely incredible. Such a professional.
