After a week of miserable raining weather, the morning of the wedding cleared out to be a wonderfully warm winter day in the Midlands Meander. My flower girls and I had a sleepover the night before eating popcorn and sweets all night and Manicures (every seven year old's dream). The day was very chilled, speeches that could melt even the coldest of hearts. However, my very favourite moment, was seeing my best friend waiting for me at the alter, getting ready to make us official...Til Death
So with it being winter, we decided to travel to Bushmans Nek, which is also close to Sani Pass. My husband has never seen snow, also I wanted to visit the Highest Pub in Africa. It was our first trip out of the country together. It was serene. There was no network either, thus very few disturbances.
The concept behind my wedding was vintage/rustic glam.
1. My dress was from Davids Bridal- Sweetheart neckline.
2. My hair had soft curls, coloured a chestnut ombre, the stylist added gold glitter streaks as he found out that i had gold glitter shoes. (Unique Hair Salon in Pietermaritzburg, Hair supplied by Malkia Emporium also in Pietermaritzbug)
3. Shoes: I had two pairs. The glittery gold heels, that matched my flower girls sneakers with gold stars. As well as a second pair (for the reception), a set of blush pink and rose gold sneakers. Those match my nails and my bridesmaid dresses.
4. Nails were done by Natalie Govender. the were blush pink bio-sculpture with rose gold accents. (to match the shoes)
5. Make up was mostly natural, I wanted my beauty to shine through. Also I am not a make up person, so less was more in my case.
We got married at Abingdon Wine Estate in the KwaZulu Natal Midlands. I am a lover of wine and what better way to celebrate a wedding other than on a local wine estate.

So I didnt really have one. I was mainly drinking lots of water. I didn't try any new products on my face (sensitive skin). Just Sunlight green bar and water.
I tried eating healthier, ensuring more veggies, I took the steps instead of the elevator at work. I kept things really simple.
The concept behind my wedding was vintage/rustic glam. So my decor was very minimalistic. I had pennygum and candles as center pieces, guests sat on hay bales during the ceremony and wine barrels at the alter. Main table had rock roses and pastel colour roses. The day really was about natural beauty, so I didn't want anything to over shadow the beauty of what was around us and the venue. It was an outdoor wedding, so the weather really had to behave.
The dashing groom and his groomsmen wore Navy blue suits hired out from Belle and Bravado. The had matte blush pocket squares (custom made) and the groom wore a matching tie.
The Ladies wore various shades shades of blush. Navy and Blush was the colour of the day. Each had a custom made infinity dress made for them and they tied them it various ways.
Our Marriage Officer was David Lock from the Hilton Baptist Church. He was the best. Everybody loved him.
No. I didn't have a day of coordinator. My friends and I are very well versed in function management/coordination. We didn't see a need for one.
We didn't hire out. we used vehicles within the family. Also, the ceremony and the reception was at one place.
Jane is a superstar when it comes to food. She basically shows off. The Wedding venue supplied in house catering (The owners).
My cake was two tiers. One flavour carrot and cream cheese frosting and the bottom tier, vanilla sponge with a caramel buttercream frosting. Super moist. Made by Gugu the Baker.
As mentioned before, I like working on functions for fun, I had found a design that matched my rustic glam wine estate wedding idea and did lots of research on stationery vendors. I did not like what they were offer and then one day, sitting at home, I figured that the only thing stopping me from making my own was me. I designed my invitation and got some craft supplies and created my invitations.
As the sun began setting, the venue was lit with fairy lights a lanterns. The candles on the tables were also lit. it was very romantic. The DJ (a friend of a friend) play 90s RnB music and local favourites. They party started after dinner when the old people left and we danced the night away...
