We did a roadtrip of South Africa. We started in North West and took a route to the Drakensberg, from there we drove along the coast to Knysna, Wilderness, up to Oudtshoorn, Graaff-Reinett and all the small towns we passed along the way.
Hair: Classic Chignon (Marlize Schoeman)
Makeup: Smokey eye with a touch of gold (Chanteleze Knoetze - Beauty by Chanteleze)
Wedding dress: The more lace the better (Dream Dress Wedding Boutique)
Shoes: Very comfortable tekkies with lace on it
On a lodge outside of Brits. Ezulwini Game Lodge. The close family stayed the night of the wedding.
The more green tea the better. It was all about not being a stress eater. So to keep the stress from getting the better of me I did a bit of yoga every afternoon to calm me down and also keep me healthy and in shape for the wedding.
To fit with our Bushveld wedding theme we used succulents as our "flowers", with a touch of pennygum leaves in between. We got married outside in the veld and instead of succulents used aloe vera plants that were in bloom and a hand made wooden arch (which my father made) to top everything off. The succulents and aloe plants came from the garden.
They wore brown chinos, white long sleeve shirts, brown shoes of their choice, suspenders and a bow tie. A close friend (her business name is African Eve) made the brooches with a kudu and their names on it, which was given to the groom, groomsmen, father of the bride, father of the groom, ring bearer and my grandfather.
My bridesmaids wore dark brown dresses, made by a local lady in town. With the dresses they wore light stockings and shoes of their choice.
Tom Schutte, a reverend and family friend.
My husband step mother (Hanlie Coetzee) took our wedding photos. She is as good as any professional photographer out there and we were privileged to have her take our photos. And of course all of the guest brought either a camera or a phone along and also took photos and shared it with us.
No planner. Just me, my bridesmaids and family who helped with the arrangements.
The lodge where we got married had safari bakkies that transported the guest to the ceremony area. Me, my dad and my girls arrived in a double cab bakkie.
The food: We had help from the guest who each had a dish to prepare, also my wonderful mother and two close friends of my father who handled the spit braai.
The wedding cake: I wanted with all my heart for my mother to do the wedding cake and she did a wonderful job, not one piece of cake was left.
Brits Printers designed and printed my table settings, menus and invites. And it looked beautiful.
We took a few dance lessons (Danstique), just to make sure we do not step on each others toes. :)
Our DJ (Luan Degenaar) is also a close friend of my husband and me and he offered to make the music at our wedding.
