I will never forget waking up the morning of the wedding thinking that 'this is it!', the day I have dreamt of as a young girl finally coming to pass. Once that moment passed I ran for the curtains hoping that the sun was shining and the birds were chirping. But alas, it was pouring with rain. My heart sank...but everyone...from the makeup artist to the photographer to my dear ol' friends made sure to cheer me up stating that 'rain on your wedding day means good luck'.
It was a day of temporary madness all around me, whilst I was allowed to sit on my high chair being tended to like a royal princess as I was sipping my champagne to calm my nerves.
Once the moment arrived, the rain stopped as my mother walked me to my forever on Cheerleader by OMI (Felix Jeahn Remix). The ceremony was outside with the ocean on my left and my closests family and friends to my right. But more importantly, right in front of me was my hubs-to-be blushing and all smiles as he looked at me.
The weather held off till after the 'I DO's' as we went off for our photo shoot. It was cold and windy but Angie did a magnificent job spinning a magic web of words cooing us into forgetting the chill that swept through us as she commenced snapping away.
At the reception, however, due to the rain we had to improvise and move a few tables around so as to accommodate the bride and groom's table. Everyone was such a good sport about it. Eventually the fireplace was lit creating a cosy blanket around us, the champagne popped, the wine flowed, the speeches were hilarious followed by dancing and a lot of celebration.
All in all, every single person present made it such a special day...one for the books which will be remembered till our last day.
Honeymoon? Oh no, not yet. We are putting our pennies aside for a nice relaxation after I graduate with an LLB.

We got married on the Bluff at Misty Blue Bed and Breakfast. Our guests stayed the night at the same.

A month in advance I started drinking more water to cleanse my body from the inside out. I ate healthy and went for deep cleansing facials with the lovely Tarryn Evans from Unique by Tarryn.
In addition, a week prior to D-day I went for my makeup and hair trial's and had my hair coloured to ensure that the colour settled before the wedding.
Three days prior, I had my hands and toe nails done and went for waxing and tinting.
The night before, I had a luxurious bubble bath in the bridal suite and went to bed early!
The theme for our wedding was laid back rustic elegance, relying mostly on our surroundings 'the beach' to add the oompfh factor. Our colour scheme was olive green, blush with gold, silver and champage. Each of our guests tables were white laced with metallic tones in the forms of vanilla and cinnamon scented candles, à la russe charger plates and wedding chair sashes. These were provided to us by Bluff Function Hire.
In addition, the tables, chairs, cutlery and crockery were provided to us by Bluff Function Hire.
In terms of our flowers, we opted for eucalyptus leaves, white and blush pink roses and baby's breath. There were other 'filler' plants that I cannot recall. Provided to us by Flowers on the Bluff.
The groom has his own tuxedo.
For this occasion we did not have groomsmen or bridesmaids. Ours was a simple wedding in which our closest participated as they wanted to.

We had no wedding planner on the day but all our friends pitched in to help make it a smooth run from start to finish as I was the last one to get hitched!
No transport was needed. Our vows were said overlooking the rolling waves at Misty Blue Bed and Breakfast. The party then moved indoors for the reception.

We used fairy lights out by the pool area which we used as a deck for dancing. A dear friend of ours is a sound engineer and volunteered to DJ for us for the night. Thank you Ryno van Zyl.
