There were many highlights of the day but I think the most memorable was walking down the aisle and seeing my groom at the front of the church. It’s an overwhelming loving moment when you walk down the aisle. You have your family and close friends celebrating your and your partners love but also the love that radiates from your partner and that moment when he took in my whole attire. But the greatest moment was meeting him at the aisle and saying hello after spending the whole day a part. Another special part of the day was honoring the family members that had died earlier on in the year. In the preceding months we lost my husband’s grandad (who was going to marry us), my uncle, my granny and my husbands grandpa. I also loved the time we spent taking our couple photos and having those intimate moments to enjoy each other before celebrating with our loved ones.
We were very fortunate that we were able to go on honeymoon. We opted for a local honeymoon since we did not have enough money to travel internationally and we also wanted to enjoy our beautiful country. My husband and I love the bush so we spent most of our honeymoon around Hazyview and then the Kruger Park. The Kruger Park is a particualy special place for us, as we got engaged there the previous year and I had been going there with my family from when I was 8 months old.
My idea for my wedding look was classic. I knew I wanted lace on my dress. At first I wanted a mermaid style dress but once I started tryin in dresses I fell in love with an A line style that had lace on the top and chiffon on the bottom that flowed out. At first the dress was sleeveless and I requested to add sleeves since we were having the wedding in winter and in a very cold part of the country. So I also had a furr shawl that I could wear. All my jewelry was sentimental that I inherited from my great granny though granny. I wore a pearl necklace and pearl earrings. To show off the earring and the beautiful neckline of the dress (and to fit in with a classic style) I choose an up do for my hair. I also had a chapel length veil. At first I didn’t want a veil and then I choose a veil that was shorter and near the time to collecting my dress I changed my mind to go with a longer veil. My lingerie was quite easy since I could not wear a bra because of my dress, so I wore simple nipple covers and special underwear my mom bought me from La Senza that said bride in front. Finally for my make up I went for gold and neutrals with a red lip. I love red and really wanted a red lip that also fit in with the classic look.
