I know it sounds cheesy, but my highlight was walking down the aisle. Having my dad by my side trying to keep in his tears, seeing my now-husband with the biggest smile and tears rolling down his face... It was just a beautiful moment.
We went to the Drakensberg for our honeymoon. I didn’t have the best of luck, when we went horse riding my horse decided to run away half through, and then when we did a 4x4 scooter tour I fell really hard. But it was so much fun and we laughed a lot!
My wedding look was pretty simple but still elegant. I’m not someone thats very flashy, so I had a simple flowy dress from Bride & Co. For my hair I really wanted an updo with flowers. For my makeup I went for a more natural look, with bronze and gold colours for my eye makeup.
We got married at Oakfield Farm in the Forest Chapel and Summerhouse Reception. It was so beautiful! Throughout the wedding I wanted subtle bohemian/earthy vibes and the venue just worked out perfectly with the glass that was all around it so you could still see into the forest/gardens.

I honestly didn’t have any beauty regimes. I didn’t need to work out because all the stress leading up to the day made me lose a lot of weight.
The chapel is quite white on the inside with glass as walls with forestry surrounding it, and inside its quite white, so what we did was put eucalyptus on the chairs going down the aisle and then in front we had a copper arch with eucalyptus hanging at the top of it. We wanted to bring a bit of the outside look inside.
For the reception, again, I really wanted something simple and elegant. We went for a rosegold/copper, white and greenery theme. So we had eucalyptus leaves on the guests tables with rosegold geometrics and white candles with rosegold candle holders in between on wooden tables. By the main table there was a rosegold LOVE marquee sign infront and then behind us we had hanging geometrics with candles in. We didnt have a lot going on, because the reception also had glass as walls, so there really wasn’t a lot that needed to be done because I wanted the outside to flow with the inside.
The groom was in a blue suit- he looked SO handsome ☺️
The groomsmen were in brown pants with brown shoes and a navy blue shirt. They also had suspenders and a bow tie.
My bridesmaids were in dust-pink dresses that had a rosegold belt (bought from Identity) and then with it being winter we decided to get them darker pink scarves to throw over their arms as well.
In their hair they also had small white flowers.
We used DGR photography for our photos. Dean & Leigh were absolutely amazing in capturing all our special moments and they really listened to what we were hoping for in our photos. We’ve only seen the sneak peaks but they look AMAZING!
For the videography, we couldn’t afford to get it professionally done, but one of our close friends who does videos for fun offered to capture the day on video for us!
We had our own make-shift photobooth, so what we did was move the arch from the chapel to were the canapes were being served and then we hung up a rosegold ‘love’ balloon in the corner and had someone we know as well take photos of the guests. We also had a friend that brought props, so that ended up being something fun that guests could do while we took photos.
No, we did everything ourselves. Oakfield did have a co-ordinator there for us on the day of the wedding though to help out with the on-the-day stuff.
The cool thing about Oakfield is that included in their package was the option to come down in a horse carriage, and I definitely decided to make use of it so thats how I got to the chapel ☺️
The food was provided by the chef at Oakfield and it was DELICIOUS! Everybody was raving about it!
The cake was provided by Sweet Joy. It was so different and unique, people loved that as well. We served it as one of our canapés and we had a coffee kart that was there as well so it went down really well with the guests.
We did all the stationary on our own.
We didnt take dance lessons and maybe we shouldve because even though we practiced a lot before the time, as soon as we got on the dance floor I pretty much forgot everything I’d learned (I have two left feet) and ended up messing up all our moves
