Peter and I were introduced to each other about 4 years ago by a mutual friend, Mouton, who we both had lived with. I was sharing a flat with Mouton at the time and he wanted to introduce me to his friend he thought would be a perfect match for me. We organised to all go out together for one of the 2014 Soccer World cup matches and as they say the rest was history. We immediately clicked and it turned out that Peter and I had met 10 years prior to that attending the same classes at Technikon, only for our paths to cross again when the time was right.
During December 2016 we rented a house in Yzerfontein along the West Coast. All the family came together for a braai the day before Christmas and the next minute Peter arrives with a gift wrapped box. He insisted I open it there and then and I was amazed as we no longer exchange Christmas gifts and said I would open it later, but he said no I need to open it now. I unwrapped the box and inside was a kettle. I was like oh cool as ours at home had a broken lid and did not think anything of it. Peter then said lets see what it looks like inside the kettle and as I opened it he dropped to one knee as I found a small box, proposing there and then in front of our family. This was total surprise...the best surprise!
Highlights of our day included being able to get dressed at my childhood friend's house who was also one of my bridesmaid's; being driven to the church by my brother; seeing my husband's expression when he saw me coming down the isle, being declared Mr and Mrs Kotze; being able to celebrate our day with our closest friends and family and dancing the night away into the early morning hours!
My husband surprised me with a romantic honeymoon in Italy, we went Rome, Florence, Venice, Naples and island of Capri. It was amazing and so special to go on our first oversea's trip together!
