Mr Dodds in the corniest of fashions, took me down to Plettenberg Bay, and with him he carried a pick n pay plastic packet with (what i presumed at the time) contained a few refreshments inside . As we sat down on a sand dune overlooking the ocean, he proceeded to scratch hastily in the plastic. He casually, with his head turned begun his proposal with a .....May I offer you ( in my mind i was awaiting an offer of a drink or whatever was inside the plastic on the menu) he proceeded to finish off his sentence with ...An everlasting life with me by your side and presented the ring in its box. It was the corniest but most beautiful gesture i could have imagined and certainly one i will never forget.
The day was filled with so many perfect surprises. Each element fell into place to the tee and we could not have asked for a more extraordinary day. The highlight of the day was most definitely the intimate wedding ceremony that we had under the pine trees. We had no formal plan for the way that the ceremony would run, instead the perfection of the absolute imperfection was what set these moments apart from the rest. We used elements from nature that we could find lying around (broken pine branches, pine cones and foliage) to signify a seating area for our guests and had an arch covered in the most amazing flowers under which we said our vows to each other. As i walked down the aisle to 'IZ' Israel Kamakawiwoʻole' s Somewhere over the Rainbow (the history of this song was so profound ; the artist wrote this particular song and had not made it public or performed it as yet. Israel went into the recording studio the very next day and managed to do one single recording with absolutely no retakes on performing this song, the very next day he passed away, but left behind him the greatest melody of his career), seeing my future husbands face and the emotion in his eyes captivated me for the rest of the ceremony. It will stay imprinted in my mind for eternity. We remained so fixated on each others presence and the importance of the heart felt vows in Gods glorious presence, it was as if we were the only 2 people in the world during those moments. (Apparently there was a fly on my rear end the entire ceremony, but even this created the perfect humour and i would'nt change it for the world)
We stayed over at the venue in George for 3 nights. We are still planning on taking an official Honeymoon at some stage in the year.
The wedding look was literally a melancholy of all the things i love. I just hoped and prayed that they would all sync together in harmony when combined. My hair and make up was done by the Super talented artist Wilna Allpass. I did not have a trial before my day but honestly there was no need for it, as Wilna has this inept ability to bring your personality to life through your hair and make up, she created the perfect end look that was the missing piece to the puzzle that tied everything together. My dress was created by KF Couture- Kelly Louise Fick, again i am so humbled by this woman's talent and her undying passion for her creations. The dress fit like a glove and screamed elegant but edgy! my shoes were purchased from the fix. I am a bit of a shoe fanatic, so I scouted for a long time online to find something to just give my shoes that extra sass. I came across a supplier named Shoe Divas SA which is where i found the metal heel condoms to perfect the look.
The flowers and decor were provided by Flowers 4 U- Marietjie Braaf. We opted for a classic simplistic winter look for the flowers of a Merlot medley. The colours comprised of wine red, blush pink and a touch of Navy blue. The decor remained simplistic with white as the basis and touches of silver to compliment the bird cages and candelabra on the table filled with flowers.
We went shopping for the grooms suit at Woolworths. He wore a David Jones suit jacket, we elected to purchase a pair of chinos instead of the suit pants as they gave a modern edgier look. The shoes and belt were purchased at Markhams.
My sister was my one and only bridesmaid. We opted for a blush dirty pink infinity dress for the occasion. The infinity dress is perfect for all shapes, sizes and body types and offers an elegant, timeless end result.

I got ready at the venue so no wedding transport was needed. My aisle walk was about a 2km beautiful field walk long from the area i got ready in to the wedding ceremony area.
The mouth watering tapas style layout was prepared and presented by Frankly Fresh, absolute masters of their trade and passionate husband wife team who are clearly chefs at heart and not just by trade.
The decadent cake was a millionaires recipe layered with belgium chocolate and finished off with a perfect butter cream icing prepared by Lilys Cake Corner. We fought about the cake days after as to whom would get the last slice.
