My fiance was my brother’s rugby coach when I was playing for the first netball team in 2010. The school went on a tour and one night me and my team mates snuck out to the beach, finding my fiance and other coaches there. When we decided to go back to our cottages, he politely got up and insisted he should walk back with us. ( i am a sucker for a man with manners.) and then he also promised that he will be at our match the following day, so he kept his promise and actually pitched up at the game the following day... who won’t like a guy with manners and one that keeps his word?
We went for a wedding, but my sister arranged a couple shoot for us the sunday, to help her friend out with her portfolio. Both me and my fiance are not keen on photos. We were not amped for it at all. We almost cancelled it. But then we explored around Franschoek, dis wine tasting and had lunch before we went for the photoshoot. Whilst doong the photoshoot the photographer wanted us to write sonething nice about the other one on blackboards, standing back to back to each other. We had to turn around and show each other what we wrote ... my board stating “jou blou ogies” was definitly not so cute as “Sal jy met my troue?”
The most memorable moment was being able to walk down the isle with my dad, who went through life saving open heart surgery 2 weeks before the wedding. There was a possibility that he almost didn't make it for the wedding, but with prayer and Gods awesomeness, he got saved and spared for our big day. He got discharged from the hospital the Friday, and travelled 80km to Tulbagh on the same day, to be able to be part our big day. We are so grateful.
Furthermore, the entire wedding was just ONE MEMORABLE HIGHLIGHT! There wasn't one thing that went wrong, and the wedding went down without a glitch.
We were gracefully blessed with the most amazing wedding, with all our closest loved ones being a witness to it.
We went to Mauritius for our honeymoon.
I had a very simple, but elegant look for the wedding.
I bought my dress at The Perfect Match, a bridal boutique in Somerset West. My dress was called Hepburn. To my surprise, it looked much like Megan Morkel's dress on her big royal wedding.
I went for the natural look with regards to the make up, and it was perfectly done by the special lady of Mooi Nooi Make-up and Hair Design. She is a breath of sunshine, and made me feel beautiful on my wedding day.
I bought my shoes at cotton on, as I was just looking for any type of plain shoe that will be comfortable enough to be able to dance in - so the oh so famous block heel did the job. I went with white shoes.
My accessories and jewellery complemented my dress, as I wore pearl earrings and a pearl bracelet (which my mom bought me.)
We got married at Mont Rouge Weddings, in Tulbagh. Argh, It is a beautiful venue nestled among the vineyards, surrounded by mountains and beautiful landscape. The venue houses a lot of different areas for photo opportunities. On our wedding day, we were surrounded with greenery all around.
Our guests stayed overnight, in different venues such as, Tulbagh boutique hotel, Reflections guest farm, Bergsicht farm and town cottages, and on Mont Rouge itself.
Oh no, I didn't have anything like that.
I was a midwife working night shift the months leading up to my wedding, so there weren't time for luxuries like that. I tried to hit the gym as many times as possible, but it wasn't always possible.
We also had a very tight budget, so all funds was out towards the wedding itself, and I had to go with natural beauty and hope it will be enough.
We didn't have a big budget for decor, and lucky for us the venue itself didn't require much decor as it was perfect just as is.
My wedding photographer/ wedding planner did all the decor with the assistance of her sister. They were awesome. We went for the rustic look on the tables. Flowers were predominantly proteas and greenery, and then we had stationary made of wood. We wanted to have like a 'farm-style' wedding, so we bought in the windmill concept and old oil lanterns, etc.

My maid of honor looked different than the other 2 bridesmaids, but the colour scheme stayed a dusty pink.

Our Pastor from the Lewende Woord church in Tygerberg, Raymond Lombaard, married us.
I had the BEST photographer I could ever ask for. She was an angel, and made sure that the day went smoothly.

I didn't have a wedding planner, as I did all the planning myself. I enjoyed every moment of it. But I got a lot of help from Liesl Basson Koorts, who also portrayed the roll as wedding photographer.
I did not make use of wedding transport, as we decided that our budget did not allow this. My mom's fortuner did a very good job in getting me to the wedding venue in style.
WOW!! Marinda and Muriel Catering did the food for the wedding. It was amazing. We had a braai station during predrinks time, during which chicken sosaties, wors, sirloin and roosterkoeke with a wide range of preserves were served.
For supper we had succulent beef fillet, topped with a mushroom sauce, roasted potatoes, pumpkin fritters and green vegetables wrapped in panchetta.
For dessert there were a dessert table, with brownies, carrot cake, cheese cake, lemon meringue, and much much more.
Bird Cage in Stellenbosch made our wedding cake. It was just as amazing. Definitely the best wedding cake I every tasted. We had a chocolate nutella cake.

DJ Brendan of Music2theMax sorted for music at our reception. He also made sure of the lighting and smoke when the dancefloor was opened. DJ Brendan is great in what he does. He reads the crowd and ensured for a great party!
And no, we didn't go for dance lessons. We just winged it!
