Where do I even begin.... Our wedding day was perfect in every way!
I had always dreamt of getting married at Cathedral Peak Hotel, a favourite family holiday destination that I have been coming to since I was 4 weeks old. I never in my wildest dreams imagined I would marry Byron, the grandson of the founder of the Hotel. This was to become my home and the extended staff all part of my family, this alone made our wedding extremely special and memorable!
After a week of constant rain and cloud cover over the Drakensberg I awoke to the most glorious sunlight coming through my curtains. The clouds had cleared and the sun was just hitting the mountains creating a magical orange and pink hue. I started my day by doing what I love, riding my horse and thinking about all that was yet to come.
I can hear my favourite piece of music being played by our string duo, it' time, my Dad takes my veil and places it over my head, takes me by the arm whilst trying to hold his tears back and starts walking me past all the Hotel Staff towards the Chapel doors, there at the end of the isle with those beautiful mountains as a backdrop is the man of my dreams with tears in his eyes. In that moment it was if the Chapel was completely empty, I could only see Byron... I will never forget that feeling...
To remind us of the exceptional commitment we have made to each other we planted two trees near the Chapel over looking the valley and the river. Once they are bigger we will place a bench in between them.
Our staff choir dressed in their traditional Zulu outfits were waiting for us, they sang and led us all the way to where our canapes were being served, it was incredible, they sang songs of our wedding and welcomed me in their traditional way to the Hotel.
We had family and friends that had come from all over the country and the world so we turned our wedding into a wedding weekend to allow us all to spend quality time together, it was fantastic and so much fun!
There are so many highlights and memorable moments I wish I could share. From the delicious food, heartwarming speeches, amazing band, our perfect first dance after three lessons, my father daughter dance etc. etc. I could go on and on....
Yes I was extremely spoilt by my Husband!
After spending a month settling into my new home and married life we went on a four week trip to Italy. We started in Venice, drove around Lake Como, walked Cinque Terre, drove the countryside of Tuscany and Umbria, tanned on the Amalfi Coast, explored Pompei and ended in Rome.
It was a fantastic trip filled with love, good food and exceptional wine!
We were married at my Husbands home, Cathedral Peak Hotel.
Despite it being his home, we had the option of any venue in SA, but for both of us, Cathedral Peak is the most beautiful wedding venue!
Our guests all stayed at the Hotel with us for the whole weekend as we were married on a Friday.

Annelie did the flowers, decor, draping and lighting for our wedding and is the best at what she does! I was not the easiest bride to work with, I had very specific requirements and wow did she deliver! Our venue and flowers were exactly what we wanted, you couldn't ask for more!

Brett Florens our fantastic photographer is a family friend living in Holland. We were extremely lucky that he was going to be working in SA over the time of our wedding and had nothing on over our wedding weekend.
