Sybrand and I are high-school sweethearts and our guests had to wait 10 years for this day to happen!
Of course there were a lot of memorable moments, but there was 2 absolutely amazing moments.
1. Seeing his face when I walked down the isle.
2. Having my dad give me away and also being our Pastor.
The opportunity to share this with 120 of our special friends and family definitely made us so happy!
We escaped the winter cold and had a fabulous, romatic week in Zanzibar.
Most girls dream about their wedding day for years and years, me on the other hand had no idea what I wanted.
I am a plain Jane, so I thought just a plain white dress, no boobtube and no bling, but my dress was completely the opposite, blush dress, boobtube AND BLING.
My bracelet was one I eyed for quite a while from the little Swarovski shop in Gateway and as I was puting my outfit together I finally had a reason to buy it!
My hair was done by Zandré Eksteen, also had no idea what I wanted and told her to do as she thinks and what an amazing job she did.
We got married at Arizona Wedding Venue near Senekal, FS.
So this venue is about 13 km away from our farm. As a child we went there for Sunday lunches, never have a ever though one day I will be marrying the love of my life there.
It was such an amazing experience and the people has so helpful.
It was a perfect spot with accommodation for 45 of our guests.
I am very blessed when it comes to bad skin, I had a problem area around my mouth, but sorted that quickly out with Environ products.
Hair was cut and colored by my local hairdresser, The Cuting Edge Hair Salon.
So I left my decor in the creative hands of my father in law. I gave him a little idea of what I wanted and said he can go ahead as he thinks.
So my idea was daisies and not a lot, but he had other plans. On the Friday before the wedding my flowers and table decor arrived and only the roses over 1200, not even counting the other flowers. It seriously looked like a flower market.
Table decor and flowers was done by Aubrey who also did Melinda Bam’s flowers on her wedding day.
My photographer I met on a trip to Thailand, Lizelle Furter, we immediately “clicked” and while having a glass of wine on a never ending flight, I told her when I get married she needs to be my photographer. One year later it was the big day!
I did not want to have a photobooth, but Sybrand insisted and at the end I was so happy we had one! The funniest photos were taken if our guests!
The food was prepared by the venue, we had beef fillet with a redwine sauce, chicken snitchel with a cheese sause, pumpkin roll, crunchy potatoes (my favorite) and grean beans with bacon.
For desert: wedding cake, Don Pedro and Peppermintcrisp tart in martini glasses.
We also had a sweets from heaven table as a thank you, goodbye gift for the guests.
My cake was done by Carien Swanepoel, so I had 3 different flavored cakes, Amaroela carrot cake, salted caramel and red valvet. Unfortunately one of the cakes did not make it to the venue and we had to replace it with a beautifully covered tin!
The party was great!!!! One of the perks of knowing each other so long was that our friends also knew each other. We had such a nice young crowd and the party was on till 5:30 the next morning.
For our first dance we had dance lessons at a local lady with a dance school.
Our DJ was our long friend Barry van Niekerk.
