On a beautifully crafted and exciting day, yet a very emotional one, what more special than to be blessed with rain?
A RAINBOW.
The weather was daunting during our ceremony, the high trees and leaves making mystical noises.
As the confetti was thrown, it began to rain. My husband swept me of my feet and ran to hall up the hill.
The rain stopped when we cut the cake.
We then left to take our couple-photos. As we were busy in the veld, and I turned around, I saw we were standing IN THE MIDDLE of the rainbow. It was not a miracle nor planned or asked for. It was a symbol of GRACE.
Afterwards we entered the hall, immediately starting with the first dance, for which we compiled a special mix of 3 songs.
We had a blast, laughing at all of the funny games our head of ceremonies planned for the guests. It was so creative (such as a special branded wine bottle with our photo on, auctioned of). We also had a special game for extra spending money for the honeymoon: our guest had to donate coins, into the jars of the bride/groom to receive a "cake in the face".
We had a 2 week European trip.
2 days in Monacco
12 days on a Mediterreaninan cruise ship (seeing places such as Marseile, Malta, 4 Greek islands including sites such as the Acropilis and Olympia and lastly Rome (Sistine Chapel and St Peters Basillica)
2 days in Apricale (most beautiful small old town, population 600, built on a hill with stones)
The dress and styling were all about the details.
I bought was the first dress I fitted (after fitting various others, it returned to me :))
It was a slim fitted boob-tube lase (feather pattern) dress, with crystal beads. The alluring part of the dress was the boning being see-though, but the most iconic part is its long and impressive train. The garter was also detail, by being delicate and cut out flower pattern. I had quite high modern and simplistic nude heels. The earrings was silver, with diamond insets, complementing the feather-like lace. For perfume, it was a small rose gold bottle from a French perfumery (we as couple bought it in Paris when we were on a Contiki tour in 2016. It is therefore a very sentimental flavor and piece to us.
To highlight the dress and complement my style, I pursued a NATURAL look: long soft white blond curls pinned to the one side with a smokey eye, volume lashes and nude lips.
We got married at De la Mas Wedding Venue, in Pretoria.
It is the perfect backdrop with a very open and natural atmosphere.
We stayed in their well styled honeymoon suite as a couple.
Trained 5/6 times a week (strength training) with increased cardio before/after.
Filled my plate with wholesome foods (interesting salads, whole grains, peanutbutter and fiber rich fruits and vegetables).
I also took CLA soft-jells and collagen as supplement (Biogen), for hair and skin purity and elasticity.
I also went for 7 laser sessions over the few months leading to the wedding (bikini and lip).
Me and my husband did teeth whitening together as a bonding exercise ( a @ home kit, Brilliant-white SA)
Our flowers made our wedding extra special, as it was exceptional Protea flowers (from: sayitproteas).
This flower has a special meaning to us as couple, as it our symbol of strength and diversity when exchanged. We also got engaged in the Koggelberg Nature Reserve, which has the most rich region of Proteas/fynbos in South Africa.
On the tables, the flowers and leaves were placed in a modernistic style, in individual glass bottles of various sizes.
We also hung them from the trusses, tied on poles at the ceremony and pinned it to our timber backboard.
It truly created a magical atmosphere with the lighting.
The guest (women) took the flowers home as an extra gift after the celebration, for it not to be wasted.
My father built a custom lighting installation from aluminium and exposed bulbs, which hung above our table.
The flowers where complemented on the raw timber table with burgundy table cloths, laser cut coasters (thank you gift), a custom designed A3 table placement mat (designed by pause_collectmoments), a single leave on the plate attached to the natural looking name-tag.
Groom has a fitted navy suit, beige undercoat, white shirt and burgundy tie from Tailorme.SA. They embroidered our names and wedding date on the inside of his jacket, with a patterned inner. He complemented the finely detailed suit with tan-brown leather shoes and belt, and a modern watch. The groomsmen wore navy fitted pants, white shirts and burgundy bow ties (also from Tailorme). All of them wore the same leather shoes and belts, and burgundy socks with various patterns.
The 4 bridesmaids wore "flowwy" navy (x 2) and burgundy (x 2) long dresses. The top part were lace and the bottom softly hanging. They accompanied their style with a silver leave hair pin, soft curls with the top part pinned up, and comfortable silver flat sandals.
Immanuel van Tonder, the most special message I have ever heard. Very expressive, joyful and a good guideline.
Chris de Wet Photography.
Ben Booysen Videographer.
Both a unique take on photos, capturing the moments rather than staging the poses.
Wedding 4 tier cake in a "ombre" style on the inside. Going from red velvet to lemon blueberry to vanilla and lastly chocolate covered with cream-cheese frosting and two laser cut lovebirds at the top. Decorated with "safari leaves" a Protea fynbos red leave.
I have my own graphic design company, PAUSE_collect moments. Therefore I designed all of the details myself.
We also had a vinyl monogram, on the dancefloor.
We had a professional young and lively DJ, DJ Steph, which is also a friend. He compiled our special mix and really kept the party pumping,
