A Tswana princess finally weds her Zulu prince, our perfect fairytale.
The most memorable moment of our wedding day , yes "our " because you know "2 became one " was the moment we vowed to love one another for the rest of our lives in front of our loved ones and God.
I walked down the aisle to meet my forever person on our 10th year anniversary , yep - varsity sweethearts after we had spent 5 years in a long distance relationship , 1330 kms to be exact.However we trusted God and our relationship stood the test of time and distance.
We spent a week away in Zimbali in KZN straight after the second part of the wedding at the grooms home. This was a
pre - honeymoon to recover from all the festivities and months of planning. The weather was amazing , so spent some time being beach bums every now and again. We are planning on going on our dream honeymoon to some exotic island with never ending white beaches and crystal clear waters this year
I am quite a natural ,laid back kinda chick so make - up does not fall within my morning routine lol , at most a little eye liner and mascara feature now and again. So on my special day i wanted to still look as natural as possible but heavenly and that was exactly the look i got, as the instagram peeps would say " i got a beat from the god's. I had a natural lip colour and a bit of bronzer for the contouring. I had done a trial with my make up artist (Minx from Makeupbyminx) prior to the big day so i was comfortable with her work. My hair was a classic low bun with a crystal hair clip.
The search for the perfect wedding dress was short and sweet , we went to a couple of wedding dress boutiques around jhb and pta but i eventually got my perfect dress at Bride and Co .I knew exactly what i wanted and after going through a couple of options i finally put on thee dress and my whole entourage went teary eyed , me included so i knew then and there that it was the one.It was an ivory All over lace fit & flare dress with beading, it was exquisite and fit like a glove; extenuating all the right places. Our consultant Eva was the absolute best , very patient and genuinely cared about what i wanted and envisioned . The look was completed with a diamante belt and 4m veil which was always such a dream, wasn't as long as princess Di's but it worked beautifully. I had minimal jewelry , just simple classy stud earrings because i was going to get the ultimate bling , my gorgeous ring which we got from Browns.
My traditional wedding dress was made by a lovely lady by the name of Nhlanhla from Alberton , it was also fit and flare, off the shoulder with traditional material detailing and matched the grooms shirt .
My shoes were from Aldo , saw them online while on one of my shopping sprees and purchased them months before te wedding day just in case i didn't see it again. They were nude with diamante stones on the side and very comfy , i still wear them which was also the ultimate goal.
Also hubby looked absolutely dashing while we on the topic.
We got married at Casa Bella wedding guesthouse in Rustenburg , North West as Rusty dusty is home for me and it was always a wish to get married in my hometown. The venue was perfect as it accommodated 350 people which are rare to find in the north west . It has a chapel which was a definite necessity for the matrimonial ceeremony. The reception took place on tje main hall.On my top wishes was also to have a venue were i could take my wedding pictures without having to spent hours driving out to another venue , so Casa Bella was perfect with many spots for awesome shots. Myself, the groom and the bridal party stayed the night before the wedding which was very convenient for us. Myself and hubby spent our wedding night as well.
Thank goodness for the good genes ! I didn't have to do anything out of my regular way of living, just remained consistent in terms of my eating habits, skin routine.I didn't want to start anything new before the big day with the fear of reacting negatively and throwing things of the balance. I got a voucher at my bridal shower which was meant for my spa treatment however with all that needed to be done , i never got a chance to go ,so only went after the wedding day and it was so appreciated.
We had to bring in additional extras to the venue as the venue did not have a large variety of options and other items not enough for the number we were catering to. Laboda Weddings based in Rustenburg came to the rescue, they provided the flowers, bridal stage and accessories , centre pieces, table number holders .They also did the setup which meant less stress on the day of the wedding and was a huge relief.The brief to the service provider was to create a elegant and warm ambiance incorporating the chosen colours - dirty pink and gold .The centrepieces were split into 2 different ways , each alternating table had either a crystal candle holder with gold candles or flowers in a tall vase. the flowers were simple yet gorgeous.The venue had draping on the ceiling with fairy lights which enhanced the ambiance.
The grooms suit was designed by an independent suit supplier and looked absolutely dapper even if i say so myself.It was maroon with black lining, paired with black pants, bow tie and black shoes from The gentlesir based in parkhurst, jhb.
The grooms men wore charcoal suits from eurosuit, matched with champagne ties, crisp white shirts and brown shoes which worked well with the bridesmaids dresses and also complimented the grooms suit.
My girls got their dresses made at Kalahari fashions in Midrand , my maid of honor however had her dress made separately by a designer in jhb because her look was slightly different to the bridesmaids . They looked amazing in their dusty pink flowing dresses,their dresses complimented their different body structures because comfort was the ultimate goal.I selected the design but asked for their opinion too, so was happy when i got positive nods from the ladies.
Our wedding was conducted and officiated by my pastor from Lutheran church in Tlhabane.
Our special moments were captured by Umusa Photography on both days . The wedding album is absolutely beautiful so they were the perfect choice.
The wedding coordinator allocated to us was Ruth and was my main point of contact throughout the planning process at Casa Bella.
I drove in an audi a3 and because hubby was already at the venue , he took a nice stroll down to the chapel with his grooms men.
The food was prepared by Casa Bella, we had a food tasting session prior to the day so that we were all happy with the food to be prepared for the day.
My cake was made by Nurie based in Rustenburg, i sent her an image of what i wanted and she went over and above , the cake was beautiful and very tasty
Amore Creations designed and printed the seating plan, invitations as well as the welcome boards for both weddings days. Darlene was exceptional in terms of her flexibility and level of professionalism .
It was LITTTTT lol , on a serious note though , i forgot my dance moves ..like all together lol. I still dread watching the replay as we had practiced so much prior to the day,I think i was too excited. However the bridal party did the most and blew it out the park with their entrance dance.We had a band called Sound connexions which kept us entertained throughput the reception , they were totally amazing. I would definitely recommend them , you'll thank me later.
