Who ever said walking down the aisle on your wedding day was easy?? Oh my gosh, walking down the aisle at my dads side, sobbing like a baby (yes - ugly, UGLY cry) has got to be the best moment of the day!
Having only ever travelled internationally for business, Clint and I were adamant that our first international trip together would be for our honeymoon! It didn't take much for Croatia to pop to the top of our list of possible destinations! After some research Croatia was decided, and man oh man were we so surprised by this beautiful country! We spent two and a half weeks road tripping through Croatia, hiking through National Parks, island hoping and simply just hanging out!
We really wanted our wedding to be a laid back, happy occasion that truly represented ourselves and our relationship. We opted for simple greenery with hints of white. My dress was simple and soo comfy, I really did not ever want to take it off!
SweetHome Wedding Venue was the first venue we looked at and my heart was set!! Clint and I wanted to get married in a chapel and possibly near water, when we walked into the chapel we knew this was it! The beautiful aisle leads you to a huge window that over looks the farm dam which was breathtaking!
Derek and Carrie have got to be the most accommodating people ever, their special touches and helpful tips were greatly appreciated by Clint and myself.
We opted for simplicity and the 'less is more' attitude. We used simple greenery (think pennygum, and ferns) with dashes of white roses and candles here and there. All sides of the family helped out, climbed up ladders and untangled fairy lights the day before :)
I was lucky enough to win a Hooray Wedding giveaway which certainly allowed us to add the extra touches to our big day! The prize included giant confetti cannons which were shot as we walked into the venue as a married couple, a huge 'LOVE' marquee light which lit up the dance floor & lawn game.
My 'bride tribe' looked absolutely amazing! I wanted something laid back but still elegant - I also am in love with bold floral prints so decided that the ladies would wear printed dresses. I really wanted each individual to feel as comfortable as possible so each bridesmaid could decide on what style they wanted for the top of their dresses.... The dress maker phoned me to let me know that each bridesmaid has wanted the exact same style! Talk about convenience :)
Richard Erasmus was our marriage officer who we were also fortunate enough to have as our marriage preparation coach! Richard made us feel so at ease and delivered the most real, heartwarming ceremony!
Our photographer was Tanya Jacobs whose work I have admired for years! Not only is she the most amazing photographer who captures such special moments, she is also just the best to work with!!
Our videographer was Dan Dedekind who is ridiculously talented.
We are lucky enough to have family and friends who were more then happy to assist with the set up of the venue on the day before our wedding. The bridal party and our families had loads of giggles and an irrelevant argument here and there over the fairy light spacing make it such fun :)
Ingrid, who was my moms bridesmaid was tasked with making sure everything was coordinated and ran smoothly on the day of our wedding. Personally, I think this could be a new career move for Ingrid - she is THAT good! :)
We wanted our food to be different and memorable for our guests and one night at a local market we ate from a food truck and we loved the idea of possibly using the truck at our wedding. We chatted to the owner who was more then happy to assist us! We offered three meals to our guests; Spiced Lamb Kofta on Naan bread (YUM!), Beef Fillet Burger or a roasted butternut and Chickpea Burger. We used the left overs as mid-night snacks which disappeared within a few minutes!
I am lucky enough to work in the stationery industry and even luckier to have a colleague who was more than happy to design all stationery for us!
Oh my goodness! The fun.did.not.stop!!!!
We had the most amazing DJ (the KZN Wedding DJ) who had our guests )whose ages varied from 16 years old to 70 years old) on the dance floor the entire night - that is saying something!
