The most cherished moment from my wedding day is when the wedding rituals itself were over, and we were taking our pictures together as a couple.
The reason why this was so precious is because these were the first pictures where we looked at each other as husband and wife. Apart from this, in most of our pictures we laughed so hard. When people say it’s the happiest moment of your life, we defined that. In most of our pictures we were laughing and couldn’t stop smiling – not smiling as you would for a picture, smiling on the verge of laughing. It was as if we forgot that we needed to pose and just drowned in our love for each other.
I know this is short, but there is nothing cliché about it. We were the definition of happiness after being announced husband and wife.
Oh and the funniest moment, I know my husband will kill me for adding this but I simply must! When the MC announced us as Mr and Mrs Naidoo, my husband decided to give himself a round of applause along with the guests. :)
Unfortunately not, we are still saving for this.. Our dream destination is Zanzibar and we hope to go there one day.
In my tradition, the wedding takes place over three days. Day 1 is where a henna artist applies the henna on my hands and feet. Day 2, is where tumeric is applied on me and Day 3 is the wedding day.
I was dressed and had my hair, make-up and henna done by Dipti Nathoo, owner of Amazing Grace in Durban, KZN.
I wore a beautiful red two piece traditional outfit. I had a buffon made so that it would push out my outfit as I walk. It was also completed with many swarovski crystals which was the ultimate for me, as I shined and sparkled all the way, from beginning to end. My jewelry was bought from the same place as my outfit as I wanted the store to match it to my outfit. Both my shoes and my jewelry was gold. Not the normal gold, more of a bronze gold.
We got married at the prestigious Kendra Hall in Durban. This is also a temple so it was the perfect fit for us.
To be completely honest, I was the most chilled bride you would have ever met! I did nothing leading up to my wedding. Even my colleagues and friends at work couldn't understand why I wasn't stressed.
I am a lover of takeouts, McDonald's specifically, and I was still ordering it even just before my wedding. :)
