Our vows to each other and our joining of our families through a wine ritual. We each wrote our own vows for our special day. We also had a special wine ritual, both our mothers walked down the aisle before the bridesmaids and myself. The mums were carrying, wine carafes, the wine carafes were from my husbands grandparents, so this was really special. The wine, was a red wine, Boer & Brit, to represent both sides of the family, and our Afrikaans and British roots. The mothers placed both the carafes on either side of a table at the front of the aisle. At the end of the ceremony, our priest announced the coming together of the families and asked my husband and myself to pour our wine from our carafes into one goblet. We then each took a sip of the bonded wine, to represent the bonding of the two families.
