Wow! Where to even begin with this as the whole day was the highlight for me! ;)
I must say though that getting ready with my girls during the day and the moment when i walked with my dad down the aisle to my husband was an incredibly tender and precious moment. Seeing Daniël waiting for me, crying his little eyes out was a very precious moment.
Yes we did! We first went to Fortune Spa for 2 nights- which was INCREDIBLE! I highly recommend a spa treatment or two shortly after the busy time of preparing for a wedding.
We then went to an amazing game lodge called Zulu Waters, just an hour from Nottingham Road. it was breathtakingly beautiful, the perfect serene, outdoors. Private game drives and splashing around in the river were the best!
Well, I have never really been traditional in my dress code and so I stuck true to myself and really just did what I wanted and not what was necessarily "fashionable" or "trending". I designed my dress my myself with the help of my incredible dress maker (Henriette Lambrecht from Henri Design) and definitely talked it through with my friends!
My hair and make-up was done by the incredible Alana from Kiss and Make-Up and my wedding shoes were bought from Mr Price! ;)
My jewellery was very special and particular. I wore a pair of very simple rose gold studs that one of my best friends and house mates for many years had given me as a birthday gift. I then wore a feature piece bracelet which was my great grandmothers form my dads side and I wore a ring which matched almost perfectly from my granny from my mothers side. They are both no longer with us on earth and it was very special for me to keep a piece of them with me on the day.
My look was definitely one of fairy, boho.
We got married on my parents's small holding in the KZN Midlands. It's called Glen Arum Cottage and was never used as a wedding venue before ours.
Our ceremony was held under the very tall pine trees in the forest and for our reception we danced the night away under the stars in another part of the garden. It was magical to say the least.
As we are from Cape Town, a lot if not most of our guests travelled to be at our wedding and we gave them a list of all the surrounding BnB's to stay at.
I had my eyebrows and a facial done as a gift from a very special friend at Radiance Health and Beauty in Stellenbosch. My nails and waxing was done by my wonderful beautician from PURE Health and Beauty in Cape Town. Other than that, I continued with my usual dancing every week (I am a dancer) to try and keep fit and healthy and my cousin and sister helped me out with rubbing on a little fake tan from Caribbean Tan 2 nights before. ;)
