There where so many, firstly the place I (the bride) got ready was this beautiful farm that a friend of mine owns in Gansbaai. It was such a magical place and they even had horses on the farm and I got to pose with one of those amazing creatures for most of my photos.
Secondly, when I walked down the aisle I could see my, now husband Jean, starting to cry and I could feel myself starting to tear up as well so I mouthed to him "No, don't" and even under the massive fail I had he puffed up his chest, straightened his back and pushed back the tears. It was such a funny moment and nobody but me and him saw.
The other highlight was being able to walk down the aisle with both of my fathers, they both agreed from the start and guided me down the narrow aisle without a fuss. It was so amazing. In my father-daughter dance, I asked both of them to dance with me. It was so special to be able to have both of them by my side all the way.
Lastly was the tiny moment of silence between all of the hustle and bustle where my husband and I snuck away and watched our reception from afar. It was a single moment of pure bliss being in his arms, watching our loved ones. It was so special and I will remember it forever.
Yes we did, Money was tight and we also didn't see the use in spending a ton of money on going somewhere exotic when we have our beautiful country at our feet. We went to my grandma's beach house in Dwarswegstrand. She was away that weekend and that place has always been so special to me. We drove around, made a massive road trip of it and had sing-alongs all the way. It was so amazing. My husband knows that the best way to spoil me is to show me the beauty of nature and that is EXACTLY what we did.
We were only on honeymoon for 4 days and the 2nd day was the best one. We woke up late to the sound of the ocean and decided to go to George for a day out. When we passed the turn to Oudtshoorn my husband said, "why don't we go to the wildcat farm in Oudtshoorn?" My answer was a resounding HELL YEA! and off we went. Driving all the way to Oudtshoorn, enjoying the beautiful scenery all the way to the Wildcat farm. We got to pet some baby cheetas, watch the otters play and played with some birds who loved my husband. (they were all over him, 20 of them sitting on his head, shoulders and arms)
All in all it was AMAZING and so much fun! I could not have wished for a better honeymoon and my husband feels the same.
Well, that's simple. I got my dress at Bride and Co on my first trip there. I did my hair and makeup myself (as well as that of my bridal party). I am not one of those girly girls so I wore tan cowboy boots as my wedding shoes, they matched the look of our wedding perfectly and they were so comfy!
My accessories existed out of a pearl necklace my mom gave me when I was about 12 years old. She wore it when she was younger and I always dreamed of wearing it on my wedding day. I also had an upper arm bracelet on with beautiful golden leaves.
We got married at Murasie Trou Venue in Gansbaai. They have this massive tree on the property and that is where we said our I Do's. We had a weekend wedding and most of our guests stayed the night. We partied till late in the night and had such a ball. Nobody had anything to complain about afterwards which was a miracle!
Murasie is the only venue we went to visit, it was PERFECT!!!!
Absolutely none. I did lose some weight due to the stress though. But I work 2 jobs and getting time to faff is quite hard. So I asked my then-fiancee if he would be ok to marry just as I am and he said Yes!
OUR CAKE AND CUPCAKES WHERE AMAZING! We got them from this small little bakery in Hermanus, Bake 2 Basics. They were amazing, moist, full of flavour and to this day I still dream about them.
We decided to go with a Spitbraai buffet supplied by Spitbraai delivery. The food was amazing, and we had a ton left over which we even took home. They were so helpful, kind and just amazing in general! I would recommend them to ANYONE!
I am a graphic designer and I have my own freelance company called Lost Balloon Design so I designed everything myself.
