A stress-free event when we decided to 'elope' from Stellenbosch to Durbanville to get married with our two closes friends as witnesses. They made the day so special, from doing nails to getting a makeup artist to pamper me. We had so much fun and so little expectations!
Not yet....
We will plan the honeymoon properly, not as spur of the moment as the wedding ;) Perhaps after having a one year wedding celebration where we invite our friends and family to attend. We would love South African honeymoon to see our beautiful country.
I would describe the look as floral-Boho. I wore a Nina J Couture dress and earrings from a Parisian artist.
The look was happy and without pretence: bare foot, flower crown made by friend, hair platted by my friend and just utterly relaxed.
Instead of going to Home Affairs, we found a registered lawyer to officiate the wedding in his office. It turned out to be quite fun and again, effortless and stress free. The lawyer turned out to know my parents quite well as they were neighbours in the '70s. Small world!
Nothing other than I would usually do: Clinique skin routine, regular pedicures and a wax. No teeth whitening necessary yet and I'm quite blessed with freckles and a good skin.
My friend took care of it all. With a colour scheme and of blue, grey and a touch of yellow-happiness, she made the bouquet, hair flower crown and men's flowers herself. Janecke and Johan wrapped blue linnen bows around our car. Just another Sunday...
The groom, Pieter and groomsman, Johan, wore blue and white striped shirts with navy trousers. Comletely unaware of the similarity in choosing their outfits.
They found it in their cupboards! ;)
My bridesmaid Janecke looked fabulous in a black lace dress with golden sandals. All inspired by her perfectly SA Netball athletic body.
An old lawyer friend of my dad, willing to marry us on a Sunday with less than a week's notice. Mr Edmund Booth from Booth Attorneys.
We did!
Cellphones! (And some editing here and there...)
Our friends Janecke and Johan de Wet.
Using my husband's brand new car with blue ribbons on.
Janecke baked a wedding cake and Johan hosted a normal braai afterwards as we requested that no family must be invited: keeping it true to elope-style and mysterious... And again, effortless.
