I have so many memorable momemts as I think we were completely lucky on our wedding day! Everything were absolutely perfect and nothing went wrong! The day before it was storming! We woke up Saturday morning and I have never seen such perfect weather. I will never forget the look on my husbands face when he saw me for the first time coming down the isle, the proud look on my mothers face, the fact that my guests enjoyed themselves so much they never stopped dancing, the food was absolutely amazing that our guest are still raving about it today! Everything about my wedding was just perfect.
Yes we did. We are outdoor people that love to do activities. We went to Cederkloof, where we stayed at Cederkloof botanical retreat. They have the most beautiful self catering houses in between the mountains. All you can hear is nature. No signal, jacuzzi on the deck, baboons, birds and other wild life all around you, hiking trails etc. And then if you wanted to go somewhere, there was a few wine farms and a museum close by. After that we came back to the ocean side and spent a few night in melkbosstrand. Which was just as lovely!
Our wedding was a vintage wedding. My wedding look i would say was comfortable yet elegant. I have had a photo of the wedding dress i wanted on my phone since Dean and I met. I had my dress made by Joyee Brand that lives is Struisbaai, Cape Agulhas. My hair, i had a Brazilian blowout done as we thought it would rain and the ceremony was outside, I wore it loose, with one or two plats in my hair. My mother baught me the most beautiful hair piece to top it off. My hair was done by my friend, Inke Kleinhans, which is a hair dresser, make-up was all nude colors done by my friend, Joadri Matthee, which studied to be a beautician. I was very lucky to have all these talented bridesmaids. My shoes were Luella shoes! Love them to this day, it is a light pink. Baught them in Canal Walk @ Foschini. Jewelry were all rose gold, baught at Lovisa, Somerset West. I wore my mothers wedding ring as my something borrowed. I wore no bra as my dress had a build in one, and i wore a seamless panty as my dress was very revealing.
Like I mentioned earlier we are outdoor people. I wedding was on a farm at Murasie in Baardskeerdersbos. The ceremony was outside under massive old tree. Our guest sat on a build pavilion looking down on us. The venue is quite far out from everyone's homes etc. so our guest had to spend the night. The venue has three houses, which we booked for family and the elderly guests. Then the venue has 2 man dome tent that you book, they set it up for you with beds in already. We thought it was quite cool! We invited everyone since the friday already, not everyone came, but we had a potjie night with those who did come earlier. Beautiful green grass were the guests stay, you look out on a big dam and mountains. It is just absolutely stunning there.
I use to have a terrible skin, so I went to see a Dr and she prescribed me some contraceptive medicine that helped with my skin. Also I had a hydrating facial mask i applied every second week. I am not one for going to a sun bed so I tanned as much as possible to get some color! My husband and I joined Virgin Active a year before our wedding where we went to go workout etc. I lost quite a few kg before the wedding by just going to gym and mixing my workouts up between cardio and strength training. Also to loose weight I had to drastically change my diet by eating healthier and cut our those carbs. I did do teeth whitening. I went to Bergvliet Medical & Dental where they made a mouth piece for me for both top and bottom teeth. You apply a gel, that you buy through them, into the mouth piece and keep it on for x amount of hours. It really worked. My nails I had done at sorbet.
My mother and my aunti did just about everything! The wedding was in a tent. We had fairly light hanging from the roof and candles on the tables. Most things were paper. By what I mean with that, we had paper flowers made, we had paper hearts hanging everywhere. All made by my aunt, Lourencia Cullum. My flowers were lots of greenery and my main flowers were Proteas. The rest of the decor were a whole lot of old things, copper candle holders, old suitcases, wine barels, old typing machines. Out dance floor was right in the middle of the tent. The venue provided the dance floor. We had a Dj, DJ Phoenix, from Cape Town. The candle holders, light etc. we hired from, Caren Groenewald, in Bredasdorp.
The groom wore a navy suit, white shirt, and brown shoes & brown belt. The groomsmen wore navy suit pants, with brown shoes & brown belts as well. Everything was baught at Markhams. They had different color material flowers that were attached to their shirts also baught at Markhams.
I chose the look and color for my bridesmaids. Their dresses were maroon. I had them made by a friends mother. I wanted them to wear something comfortable as you want to feel comfortable throughout the day. Their dresses were very plain yet beautiful, with a belt made from the same material to top it off. They wore pearl earrings i baught through Avon. Their shoes were white sandles baught at Mr Price. Their hair were wore loose with a olat in them, done by my friend Inke Kleinhans & another hair dresses, Elmarise Van Dyk.
We were very blessed to have our friend, Marizanne Pheil, marry us. She has walked a path with us since we started dating back in 2012.she is still busy studying to become a priestess. But we were very lucky to share that beautiful moment with her.
We had no Videographer. We only had a photographer. Her name is Lize Venter. Her faceboom page is Lize V photography. She is also from Bredasdorp. We went to school together. We had no photobooth, but we did have our photographer take photos of me and my husband with every table.
Yes. My mother Irene Vrey! My mother use to do weddings a few years ago. So i was lucky enough to have her!
We had no transport as everything was on one farms and walking distance.
Once again my amazing mother! She made our cake. She hired old staff that use to work for her to come in and they did the food.
We did everything our selves. The designing and printing was all done at home.
We had a DJ. DJ Phoenix from Cape Town. He did the ceremony as well as the reception. We were very happy with him. We did not take dance lessons all though we did go over our dance. I song was. I song was, Something I need sung by Ben Haenow.
