Our romance started with something deep in both of our hearts…a shared love of fun and adventure! The years of getting to know each other were spent travelling to far off places or camping under the massive Karoo sky. Naturally, my husband took me deep into the heart of the Cederberg Mountains to propose, right under the beautiful Wolfberg arch where we then camped for the night…with nobody around for miles! Our wedding of course followed this trend with fynbos and feathers as our theme. The big event was held in the Robertson Mountains at Pat Busch Nature Reserve. The venue is at the very end of the road, and we spent the weekend surrounded by our friends and family…and of course plenty of fynbos! Our magical ceremony was under the huge oak tree, and we danced that night away on the open air dance floor under the stars. Blessed with just enough rain to make the evening all the more exciting and memorable.
Yes, we did go on honeymoon the Monday after. We really love traveling overseas but we decided to keep it closer to home. Because Dale works in conservation and me in travel the bushveld was a natural choice, but we wanted to be on a beach and go diving as well. We got a really good rate from my work and spent four days in Phinda Game Reserve the Forest lodge and four at Rocktail bay on the coast. Dale planned all of this with my colleagues without me knowing.
A very chilled boho look. I tried to stay as natural & "myself".
The most important I kept asking myself was "Can I dance in/with this & will I be comfortable wearing this"

We got married at Pat Busch Mountain Reserve. We wanted our wedding very outdoorsy with the ceremony & reception all in close proximity. They also had accommodation for 70 guests which is absolutely great and with no curfew to switch off the music. We booked the venue Friday to Sunday, right in the heart of the mountains. https://www.patbusch.co.za/

They were amazing from flowers to decor to wedding co-ordination.
Lizl and Nikki took care of everything! They were really a god-sent! With amazing talent and eye for detail!
Would recommend them over and over!
Swing Cape Town, a local vendor at the Houtbay market.
We love their Africa printed waistcoats.
And match them with some chinos from Woolworths
I was looking everywhere for dresses in a mauve colour to resemble the colour of proteas. And finally 5 weeks before the the wedding I saw their gorgeous dresses at https://www.poetrystores.co.za/ and I bought some of those online in each girls size.
Barry Grey - an amazing minister who worked with us in designing our own ceremony exactly to our liking. Our ceremony with Barry was definitely the highlight of our day! He also spent time to get to know us before hand giving it a far more personal touch.
The first thing we booked was our photographer, because we really had to trust in someone capturing the moments that would last forever and someone who could capture the intimate moments between us. That is why we went for Moira West!!!!!! https://moirawest.com/
We had 2 videographers cancel on us after booking them, and we ended up booking Brush weddings films and we were so pleasantly surprised!!!!! Their video is definitely something we will watch & treasure every year, they are such great story tellers and this is something you should not leave out on your big day! https://www.brushweddingfilms.com/

We had a harvest table with the pre drinks with cheese from fairview.
Di Doms was our caterer who made the best roosterkoeke, and organised us a spitbraai which she complemented with amazing salads, vegetables and potatoes.
She also had five different small bite size desert which all got demolished by the end of the night.
We were very strict in the planning making sure no food was wasted or not eaten.

The reception was an absolute party with great tunes from Silk music. Dale's brother who is the lead singer of Watershed sang to our first dance. Making it not just romantic but very sentimental.
We also had some friends who wanted to hit the decks playing some techno (Deliriant, Dynamic Range, Storman & Dj Lavi)
We danced in rain in the middle of a drought in the Western Cape ;-)
