Walking down the isle was the most amazing feeling ever. I felt like I could run just to get to the ''married part'', but on the other hand, I really enjoyed looking at our beautiful guests so I wanted to walk even slower. The emotion on everyone's faces brought so much happiness and joy to my heart. We had so much fun during our first dance, that we completely forgot that it was our first dance. I felt like we were floating on clouds all day long.
We went to Mauritius for our honeymoon, and I was completely surprised by my husband. He kept it secret from our entire family. I was at the SAA check in desk when I found out where we were heading. I am definitely the biggest curious Joe, you will ever meet, and my poor man sure had his hands full with the secret planning. Mauritius was mesmerizing! The food, the people, the beaches, everything was just fantastic. I truly felt like we were on honeymoon. I didn't want to leave.
I wanted a classic but comfortable look, something that follows today's lacy trends but will look just as beautiful 20 years later.
My hair was done by my good friend and our Sedgefield local superstar, Zani Roos @ Zani's Cut & Curl. She managed to get my hair to match the picture I had in mind with zero effort.
Wilma Cronje from B-U-T Studio George, did my eyelashes and makeup for me, and she is so lovely to be around. It helps having calm and professional people with you on your big day.
The wedding dress was made by Bridal Inn, these guys are freaking fantastic. I made my matric farewell dress with them and 7 years later I was walking down the isle with another amazing creation of theirs.
I work abroad and was fortunate enough to buy my lingerie and wedding shoes at a large end of season sale in Spain.
My late mother's earrings was my something new, something borrowed, and something old, it just wasn't blue. The bracelet was bought at Lovisa to match my earrings.
We got married at the first and only venue we viewed, Colnera Estate. This is a beautiful farm close to George Airport, with a charming chapel, and great scenery all around. The venue has 5 chalets that can sleep 2-4 guests each. Our guests who had to travel far, stayed the night.
My husband and I signed up for the gym a couple of months before the wedding. We tried to be as active as possible, with mountain biking in our neighborhood forests, daily walks around the block, and even kitesurfing in the Knysna lagoon helped keep us in shape for the wedding. I use Annique's face products, and it really works great for me. I bought a face mask from them that I used once a week after a good face scrub. I avoided all sugars the final 2 weeks before the wedding, and drunk as much water as possible each day.
Our color scheme was white, peach and silver. We wanted a classic but minimalist setup, with centerpieces that was below eye level.
Potpourri Functions did all the decor for the wedding. They provided all the props for our DIY photobooth, and did the set up on the Saturday morning. They do their own flowers, they provide all the vases, signage, tableware, extra draping and other bits.
Our tables and chairs, tablecloths, fairy lights, DJ and entrance draping was included with our venue.
The groom and groomsmen rented their suits from a local company, Suit Studio Mossel Bay. Everyone was so thrilled with her suits that my brother and uncle rented their suit from her too!
I bought my husband his dress watch for his birthday, and his shoes was bought in George.
My bridesmaids also wore dresses that was made by Bridal Inn. I saw a picture on Facebook one morning and just fell in love with the whole look. It just happened to be the colors of my wedding. I sent an email to Bridal Inn asking if they can make this, they said yes and I loved it even more when the girls had the dresses on.
Our pastor and long time family friend, Richard Meyer was our marriage officer. He is with The Rock Church in Knysna.
Our photographer was Peter Chan Photography, and our videographer was Eon Media.
These were the most professional group of people I have ever seen. Both my husband and myself, were extremely nervous in front of the cameras, but they made us feel at ease almost instantly. They definitely captured the best moments of our day, and caught the sweetest moments on camera. We are so happy with our photos and how it came out, regardless of the weather not being too great.
I did not have a wedding planner, but I had a full team of aunts, friends and cousins that was more than happy to jump in and give a helping hand.
We borrowed a relative's car, because it was nice and spacious to fit me and my dress. We didn't have to travel far, seeing as the venue arranged accommodation at the Oubaai Hotel for me to get ready in. The hotel is only 5 minutes away from the venue.
Our food was prepared by Tertius from Chili & Chive. Our guests couldn't stop talking about the food, we got so many compliments regarding the food and the dessert.
The cake and cupcakes was made by Cakes by Nix. Nicky is truly amazing at her job, and it is easy to see that she is following her passion. The whole family are still craving for more cake and cupcakes.
The stationery was a big wedding gift from our aunt. She had it all designed and printed at Blitsdruk Knysna. They went the extra mile and beyond to make sure that everything was just about perfect.
After the first dance it was just one big family party, we had so much fun and ended up dancing with each and every guest that attended our wedding. If I could get my way, I would get married every year just to be able to celebrate with all my close friends and family again.
We took a couple of dance lessons before the wedding, for the extra confidence boost. We just did a traditional ''sokkie'', because we didn't want to focus on dancing steps, but rather just enjoy the first dance as a married couple.
The venue has a DJ, and provides all the sound and lighting. We wanted to keep things simple therefore we didn't rent any extra's.
