We were in the same church, Klipkerk in Vereeniging ( I never noticed him tho). Aniway's, his parents held country shows at their venue (same venue we are getting married) for fund raising for the church. That's where we met and after the third country show i decided to add him on Facebook. On Facebook we started a talking. He asked me if i would go to Kaapche Hoop with him... I did not ask my mother as i did not know him but, two days before the long weekend he asked me if i was going. I asked my mother and the first thing she did was call his mother, i was sort of embarressed :) . PS: I was 16 at the time. So my mother said yes and i went with him and his parents to Kaapche Hoop where we fell deeply inlove. After 3 years we got engaged(In Kaapche Hoop at the Waterfall) and now after 5 years of being together we are getting married, more inlove as ever.
We were on our yearly trip to Kaapche Hoop. This town means so much to us as we fell inlove there. So we go there quite a lot, but we never went to the Waterfall and in my mind that would be the perfect place to get engaged(I never told anyone)
So the 26th of March 2016 we decided to go to the waterfall. The path is full of rocks and small streams, So its a rocky road to get to the waterfall( which is how i see our relationship, we had to overcome a lot of stepping stones before we got our "happily ever after"). On our way to the waterfall he asked me questions like why would i wanna marry him and why do I love him. I thought something was wrong but i decided to just answer his questions and not make anything out of it. Eventually we got to the waterfall by sunset. We spent a while there and in the middel of the water was a rock that we stood on.
He suddenly looked very serious and bended on one knee, pulling out the ring from his pocket and asked me if i wanted to spend my whole life with him as his wife .
I immediately said yes and tears started to pore out of my eyes. For me that was the most perfect engagement.
My dress is something i would not wear usually. It was a mermaid dress. I would never picture myself in a dress that is tight around my hips but at the end it looked great. My hair was loose curls that looked natural with makeup being a little bit glamorous. My shoes were special because their name was Linda which is my mothers name.
We actually got married at my now husbands parents Venue, Vredenhof Venue that was really special and we could play around with deco.
With our first dance we danced on the song "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran which had a lot of meaning to us and was easy to dance to. Me and my husband did the dance on our own and in the end it was a huge success even though we stepped on my dress a few times.
