We are high school sweethearts!! We met in 2006 when we were in grade 8 and ever since then nothing could keep us apart. He waited for me to finish my studies and asked me to marry him right in the middle under the Eiffel tower in Paris, France. And so the wedding planning started.
Our special day
It was just the most BEAUTIFUL day!! We wanted to create a whimsical and romantic atmosphere with a lot of rustic elements, loads of flowers and even more candles. The colours we used were navy and burgundy with a touch of rose gold to bring everything together. There was a lot of greenery and the venue was very raw with a zinc roof and wooden tables. The whole venue and chapel was built with rocks. Everything happened in the same place at our venue: The Vintage Yard Parys, Free state. We had 80 guests that consisted of close friends and family members. The whole day was just absolutely perfect. We have dreamt of this day for so long that it just had to be perfect! We tied the knot on a late autumn afternoon at 16:00 on the banks of the Vaal River with the sun just about to set over the water. It is difficult for me to describe certain moments because there were just so many special ones, but if I have to choose I would say the moment my dad walked around the corner, saw me and started crying was one of the most special ones. And then of course our first dance. It felt like I was floating on a cloud, I blocked everything out around me and all I remember is dancing with my husband for the first time as his wife to Ed Sheeran’s Perfect. Being able to share a moment so true with all our loved ones was a special moment in itself.
Yes!! It was a big surprise and only very few people knew where he was taking me! We went to ZANZIBAR for a week where we stayed at the My blue Hotel all inclusive in a sea view suite. We spent the week soaking up the sun, eating way to much seafood and sipping on cocktails. After our week on the island we flew to Cape Town where we spent another week in Blouberg strand. MY FAVOURITE place in South-Africa. We took long walks on the beach, ate oysters and discovered a love for craft gin!!
I knew immediately from day 1 what I wanted in a dress!! I asked a good friend and designer from the Vaal triangle to design my dress. She designed my dress, the two moms’ dresses as well as my bridesmaids’ dresses. My dress consisted of two pieces, the long straight dress and a skirt I wore over it for the chapel service. I’ve been growing my hair since I was a small girl so I decided to not pin it up but rather leave it down with just loose curls, so I didn’t do extensions or anything, I just went for a more natural look. My long time hairstylist Ronel Basson did it perfect. My make up as well as all the ladies’, moms included was done by a good friend and wonderful make-up artist Jenine Grobler from Belle Beauty. My shoes were bought from Bride & Co and was a present from my mom. And my jewelery was given to me as a present from my dad which made it extra special.

We got married at The Vintage Yard in Parys, Free state. There are facilities on the premises for guests to sleep over so some of them did.
I took spinning classes at Virgin active with my friend (one of my bridesmaids) at 5 in the morning like they were Smarties. I also went for various facial treatments at my long time trusted salon Beauty Aesthetics and I did G5 slimming treatments (also at Beauty aesthetics) to get ready for my tight dress and my honeymoon bikini!

RDK PHOTOGRAPHY did our photos! I didn't even consider other photographers! Renske is just the best and I booked her as soon as we set a date!
MORII PRO did our video, Ryno is the best at what he does and captured moments that I watch over and over again!
Words can NEVER thank these two enough for what they gave us to remember our wedding day!!

Nope! Did it all with the help of my 5 bridesmaids, the two mothers and service providers! :-)
We were very fortunate that everything happened on the venue premises. The old Ford 'Bakkie' that me and my dad arrived at the chapel with, was provided to us by a good friend of my father's.
All our stationary and special elements were done by The party fairies here in the Vaal triangle. They are absolutely professional and so creative. It definitely rounded the whole day off and made it so special.
Our reception was just one big celebration!! Our good friends from SA music group did all the lighting, sound and DJ. they really are the best at what they do! I wanted a very specific light effect, that was a certain colour and they sat there the night before and tweaked it until I was 100% happy. It gave the whole romantic feel to our wedding that we wanted so badly. Without these lights we wouldn't have had that romantic atmosphere.
